- I can't stand her show, can't watch it. But I like her as a guest on other shows.
- Things I have learned from Judge Judy:
Income tax refunds are a primary driver of one segment of the economy
Promises of "I'll pay you as soon as I get my tax refund" bear bitter fruit
Helping someone purchase a motor vehicle comes to certain ruin
Litigants who would sue friends and relatives seem surprised that this often affects these relationships adversely.
The most ignorant of dirt balls will, in an instant, get all Section-and-Paragraph on a friend or family member who has taken her in rent-free, and demand elaborate notice and restitution and emotional distress.
Cases concerning very small sums of money or damages are seldom about money or (measurable) damages.
- Here's what I've learned:
Black people are incapable of telling a coherent narrative without giving hours of back story that has no bearing at all on the issue. And every person they have every known must be name dropped and drug in all along the way.
- Judge Judy is my hero! Everybody she yells at are irresponsible morons who deserve embarrassment anyway, so what's the problem? As she always says, "a little common sense can go a long ways." The most no-nonsense judge I've ever seen.
- There are many shows like this. If you still choose her show over one of the others something is just not right with you.
- There's always a hot guy who's being sued by his ex-girlfriend. He's usually a douche and she is usually blonde with a reed thin voice.
"May I say something, your honor?" "No, you may not!!!"
- Not a Judge Judy parody but still funny.

- R3, you're an asshole. Black people aren't the only ones that give unnecessary information.
- Did the episode with the DLer who was sued by his ex ever air?
- I despise Judge Judy.
- She probably wouldn't like you either R12, so you're even.
- Judge Judy herself is entertaining. It's "Byrd" that's annoying. He stands there and does crossword puzzles on his clipboard. He also gives off way too much attitude when someone hands him documentation.
- I love Judge Judy. I wish she could be cloned and preside over every court in the land.

- Judge Judy is a fictional television show, dumbass. They pay nothing. Judy is as respectable as Nancy Grace. She's despicable. A total bully.
- R4 is a typical, fat dumb Frau.

Ugh. Such white trash in this thread.
- Her show is kind of a disgrace, and yet....
She is one of the few people on television that is not in a choke collar of correctness.
Before her television show she was written up in newspapers and magazines as one tough talking common sense, no bs family court judge. I remember reading of her. Fame followed.
So she is herself with some pressure to amp it up. But because of the cases that are presented or because of who agrees to be on the show, it does seem outright racist at times. Too much dressing down of under-educated or underclass black and Hispanic Americans.
There are always the scorned white women for relief. I don't believe for a second that Judy Sheindlin is racist, and she is a very progressive and consistently sound commentator in all other formats. She is consistent and stimulating.
I love her guts and character to call a moron a moron, but too often they happen to be a spade. Judge Judy seems racist, too much of the time.
The lower classes as entertainment for the middle class makes much of TV go round.

Byrd is hot
- Is there "STUPID" tattooed on my forehead!
Judge%20Judy%20
- She is there to entertain primarily and be a mediator (she's not a judge on that show after all). She does things that would get her kicked off the bench in most states once the state judicial review board started investigating her.
For what they pay her to do, I think she does a great job. And I agree about Byrd. Can't stand that sullen asshole.

- ANOTHER thread about Judge Judy? Aren't there at least a half a dozen old ones?
I watch her show. It's fun to watch her humiliate people who truly deserve it, although on rare occasions she's very unnecessarily nasty.
For a show where "everybody wins", I've seen quite a few litigants who are very pissed off and angry that they're lost their case or have a judgement ruled against them. It doesn't appear that they're acting; bad acting is easy to spot (just watch "Maury" if you're entertained by bad acting). Such hostility doesn't make sense if everybody gets something and nobody has to pay anything.
Whatever happened to the troll who claimed that "I Won On Judge Judy!" Dataloungers were all a-tingle with anticipation at seeing him triumph on Judge Judy, but the show he described never aired. Lesson to be learned: don't be so quick to take the word of a troll.
- Wow, R30, you're pretty clueless about human nature, aren't you? More than anything people want justice. They want to feel like someone smart and fair heard all them out and ruled in their favor. They want the person who "done them wrong" to suffer---even if it's just the humiliation of being told by a Judge that they are a scum sucking low life. People dream about justice like that.
- Yay! The first of many Judge Judy 2013 threads!
- I like her show, but she seems really nice in interviews.
- Correction: Litigants are indeed paid to be there. Check her website. And, yes, she is a real judge and the judgements are binding.
- Juan Steel is in straight porn now
- She is acting more like a binging arbitrator than a true judge. Of course, to make it more tv friendly, they purport her to be acting as a judge, though she is not sitting on a true legal bench with the authority of a particular jurisdiction.
- R25, Judge Judith Scheindlin got the JJ gig because of a piece on "60 Minutes", linked below. Her tactics haven't changed one bit for the show and she was not kicked off the bench nor reviewed in her 30+ years in NY family court.
You can see one of the attorneys mouthing "bitch" at her.

That's just the Southern Drama Gene with a bit of Homer (and his digressions) thrown in.
Southerners always milk the spotlight.
- [quote]Judge Judy gives me no hope for the American people
You're a fucking idiot. Seriously. You're a societal bottom feeder OP, you and people like you, and you remind me there is so very little hope for America.
- OMG OP!
I completely misread your comment. Please forgive me. I retract the unfair comment. I thought you were actual praising this horrid woman.
I read your entire post but something misfired in my head. I completely agree with you. Forgive my comment @ R40.
R40
- No, you were right the first time, R40
I%27m%20the%20boss%2C%20Applesauce.
- You make society sad, R42.
The smart part.
- The blatino bailiff on the People's Court is very hot. He is so built he is almost popping out of his uniform.
- r34 "Judge Judy" is a retired judge. She is acting as a private arbitrator and the parties have agreed to be bound by her decision. This happens all the time and there are numerous retired judges acting as private arbitrators. The difference is that most small claims parties do not submit their cases to private arbitration as they must pay for the arbitrator. For TV purposes her binding arbitrations are staged in a courtroom, but she has no authority as a sitting judge and no authority to issue judgments.
- So, for example, r45, she couldn't declare someone in contempt of court?
- I love Judge Judy just the same as I love Joan Rivers: they speak the truth! And the truth hurts (dumb) bitches!
- The people who appear on her show are getting PAID to do so. Five thousand dollars, hence why the verdict's don't go any higher than that.
Why should she kiss their asses? They have the option to duke it out in a real courtroom, but choose not to.
- [quote]The people who appear on her show are getting PAID to do so. Five thousand dollars, hence why the verdict's don't go any higher than that.
Actually, it's because they are small claims cases. Small claims court does not allow for cases over $5000.
- What is the name of that hot bailiff on People's Court? I fantasize about him.
- Wrong, you stupid, sniveling, whiny retard vegetable R17. Judge Judy embarrasses morons who refuse to use common sense in life. And if that bothers you, it proves you're an illogical mental vegetable yourself, you sad, pussified waste of human existence.
- Douglas
- Yeah, Douglas what?
- Douglas McIntosh
http://photos.lucywho.com/douglas-mcintosh-photos-t301047.html
- r44, where did you the idea that Douglas McIntosh is a blatino?
- He is probably not blatino, but he does look somewhat biracial or multiethnic.
- They pay for hotel and airfare and then they pay the for judgement awarded and it's not always 5000 dollars.
- r57 is correct. TV judges use maximum compensation for the state where the case was filed.
- I'm the boss, applesauce!!
Judge%20J.
- The people who appear on her show are getting PAID to do so. Five thousand dollars, hence why the verdict's don't go any higher than that"
Are you saying everybody who gets on the show gets paid $5000? Now that is a crock of shit.
- I love Judge Judy, and having worked in the Family court for a number of years, I wish there were more judges like her. I'm sure we'll see her for a few more years since she makes $45 million a year.
- I think that whatever judgement she makes is taken out of the $5000 and awarded to the other party.
Hence the very real anger.
- Judge Judy is all that gives me hope. Her defendants & plaintiffs do not.
