George Bush being a college cheerleader
President Bush was a cheerleader in college and I have never understood this. Bush thinks of himself as a masculine man and I don't think he has ever flirted with homosexuality.
Weren't male cheerleaders always regarded as gay or at least feminine? Weren't they teased by the hetero world for this? Why would Bush want to be a cheerleader? It seems weird and incongrous.

You think wrong!
Jeff Gannon - James Guckert
- There were some rumors that the Enquirer had some gay stuff on him (including pictures) but they got anthraxed and it was never spoken of again.
- You do get to look up the skirts of the cheerleaders...
- But why would Bush, part of the anti-gay WASP establishment, engage in a public activity that has a gay reputation?
- Seems to me, if you are gay, you want to be a football player, if you are straight, you want to be a cheerleader. Why are so many gay guys in drama club? Why wouldn't it be the straight guys? I'm confused.
- THREAD CLOSED.

Speaking of Ken Mehlman, the gay Republican anti-gay strategist....
Ken Mehlman
- Google "george bush gay rumors". There is a mountain of suggestive facts and even names.
- He was a Yale cheerleader because his father was. If you think he's gay, then GWHB must be too.
- In their world, cheerleading doesn't read as gay.
- I thought male cheerleaders were the straight guys who couldn't play sports but were desperate to be involved somehow. All destined to be smarmy salesmen.
I went to an all boys school and even we didn't have male cheerleaders.
- Colleges and Universities used to be all male, therefore, their cheerleaders were also male.
At Yale, it was seen as a very manly thing to do, according to my dad, who could not understand why his very gay son did not want to be a cheerleader, because it was not a cliche in the 60s.

- Male cheerleading requires a lot of strength and some real gymnastic ability.
- I agree with you R12. I just don't personally see it as manly. That said I wish the sterotypes would stop. I'm at fault with this too I guess. Anyway, I doubt he was very good. Too much of a stiff shirt for the flexibility required.
- I don't think being a Yale cheerleader has much to do with it, but GWB shows a lot of the earmarks of being a closet case. His marriage looks like a mutual bearding arrangement to me.
- It's bad enough that we have to take John Wayne Gacy...now you want to foist George W. Bush on us too? I'm turning in my gay card.
- Did he go to the prom with the quarterback?
- R8, I challenge you to put in the name of any public figure followed by a "g" and not have the word "gay" come up.
- According to friends, he spends most of his days inside now painting dogs. Is it common for older straight men to take up painting?
- R19 Isn't it hard to get the paint out of the dogs' fur?
- Oh I think Bush is straight. Not just because I don't want him on the team. I just don't think he is. I know we at DL think virtually everyone is gay but that is simply not true. Thank goodness!
- He was HAWT.

Not if they're drunk and sitting in their own vomit.
- Then try googling W's college roommate.
- Painting dogs? Hmm. Is he painting dog figurines or paintings of dogs?

I think this is it. He simply didn't have he athleticism to play on a college team and he was a joiner. I don't know if he played sports in H.S, but I'm betting that's it and he simply had to be involved. Cheerleading back then didn't involve the athleticism it does now with all of the lifting and gymnastics that university squads do. They have their own competitions that are pretty rigorous.
- It used to be very manly to be a cheerleader - in fact, you were considered the "real" cheer leader while the woman were basically these idiots you paraded around. Lots of guys wanted to be cheerleaders but their voices weren't deep enough or they didn't have the body for it (LOTS of heavy lifting).
- I think there's a major connection with Guckert staying overnight in the White House on numerous occasions.
- Is there more evidence that Guckert stayed overnight besides not signing out on multiple occasions? I know that he visited the WH on multiple occasions when there were no press conferences. I'm intrigued by this. Oh, to be a Secret Service officer in that administration. Honestly, I don't think the visits were for Bush, but rather Rove. Bush doesn't ping like Rove does.
- Imagine the ensuing maelstrom if a gay male prostitute with a slew of solicitous websites (among them, militaryescorts.com) featuring nude photos of himself pimping his services was found to be kicking around the Obama White House.
Jeff Gannon/Guckert became the most famous male hooker since Joe Buck when he made more than 200 appearances at the White House posing as a journalist with the conservative websites GOPUSA and Talon News, attending 155 White House press briefings. He possessed no previous journalism experience, and had previously been refused a congressional press pass.
If that weren't enough to raise eyebrows, Guckert made more than twenty-four visits to the White House when there were no scheduled briefings. On at least fourteen occasions, Secret Service records show that Guckert checked in but was never processed out.
Heaven help us should Gannon/Guckert show up at the Obama White House.

- No cheer leaders or yell leaders were not exclusively male, especially up until the 60s. I recall My Three Sons where Ernie was a yell leader.

We don't have to imagine the reaction. We see it every single day from the right.
What's difficult to imagine is the GOP becoming evolved enough to recognize that their reactions continually expose their blatant hypocrisy and immaturity
They watched an asshole walk out on a flight deck, all dressed up and with a big ass sign behind him proclaiming "Mission Accomplished" for a fake war that wasn't even accomplished and thousands more died after that showboating, but it's obviously Obama who is the one looking for attention and who "takes too much credit" for Bin Laden being killed...simply by walking out to the podium to announce he was killed.
- I was also a cheerleader and I am 100% heterosexual.

That quote deserves and encore.
- "You do get to look up the skirts of the cheerleaders..."
Not at an all-male institution where all the cheerleaders are male...
