From the 1980-81 TV season through the 1989-90 season, 7 different shows won the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy. Which of the 7 shows is your favorite and/or the best comedy series of the group? Were there others that should have won instead?

• Taxi and Cheers were both good... but man, it sure seems like there's not a lot of diversity on that list. Not a lot of choices.

• None of them. I was 5 at the end of the decade. Actually, I choose "Taxi". That has Tony Danza in it, and he looks like my father.

• Thank you, R2, for picking this up for me. I'm glad I haven't been mocked yet for failing to do the poll correctly. One of my favorites at the time was Kate & Allie, but it hasn't held up well at all. I also liked Newhart very much. From the ones listed, my favorites were Taxi, Cheers, and The Golden Girls.

• Barney Miller was still on in 1982??? Never liked it, not that I really remember much of it. I think WKRP should have won at least once.

• I was never a Barney Miller fan either. I watched The Cosby Show and The Wonder Years occasionally, and Murphy Brown religiously. (I already mentioned the others in an earlier post.) For the sake of reference, the non-winning nominees from the 80's: M*A*S*H (although it won in the 70's); Soap; WKRP in Cincinnati; Love, Sidney; Buffalo Bill; Newhart; Family Ties; Kate & Allie; Night Court; Frank's Place; Designing Women. Not nominated: Roseanne.
