For me. an afternoon nap is de rigueur.
During the workweek, I steal a 20 min. catnap.
On the weekends, I could pass out for three hours!
- I nap from about 3:30 till ~5PM most afternoons.
A luxury of life, like line-dried bed linens and infrared lamps in the bathroom ceiling.

- More than a half hour and I wake up too groggy.
- Are you retired?
- I work from a home office, and I take about 30 minutes of nap-time somewhere between 2-3 PM. When my office was in an office park, I used to go out to my car at lunchtime, crawl into the backseat with a pillow and a blanket, and snooze out.
- Naps are essential. Try to take at least 10min on your lunch hour (it's YOUR time, you should be able to do what you want with it). You will feel amazingly good for the rest of the afternoon

- Retired, yes.
I did work, but a few years back I was fired for napping everyday between 3:30 and ~5PM.

When I retire, I think I might adopt that habit!
- How do you get yourself to fall asleep? I have never slept during the day, even while sick at home. I have always envied folks that can just nod off.
- FACT: If you're napping every day, then you're either lazy or old.
- [quote] How do you get yourself to fall asleep?
Lie down on the bed, wearing appropriate clothes. Cover up with a blanket, if it's cool. Close eyes.
Sometimes it's not quite sleeping, basically just resting. Sometimes it's a deep sleep.
Basically it's to freshen up, not to replicate night-time sleep.
- OP, I think we all j'dore naps, duh.
- I wish I could. I had a co-worker who could nap for 15 minutes and be refreshed. Of course he didn't have my stamina or productivity.
- Why am I seeing the most boring threads in DL history featured today?
The new year does not bode well.
- I don't get how some people can take 15 minute or half-hour naps. It takes me forever to drift off to sleep, and when I eventually do I'm out for at least 3 hours.
- $18, for this?
- Prune juice and a ground floor master bedroom are also de rigueur .
- Several months ago, we had a nap thread where a guy got under his desk to take a nap and forgot to lock the office door. A co-worker caught him sleeping and told the boss.
- What does de rigueur mean?

- one sign of diabetes is being tired all the time. maybe that nap is trying to tell you something.

- I'm on a two week vacation and am napping around 1-2 hrs a day. I do go to bed later but still wake up later than my usual time.
When I'm working, I squeeze in a 15-20 min. nap.
I do have fitful sleep at night with weird dreams and nightmares. I believe that's where my need for a nap comes in. I don't get a good nights sleep.
