With the new year fast approaching and the fiscal cliff deadline looming, all eyes are on President Obama and Congressional leaders to work out a compromise before then. The White House and Congress are working through the weekend to settle on an acceptable compromise, and on Sunday, the president will sit down for an exclusive interview with David Gregory on Meet the Press. The interview marks more than three years since Obama last appeared on a network Sunday talk show. The exclusive interview was announced earlier today by NBC. According to POLITICO, Gregory was scheduled to be on vacation for this Sunday’s edition of Meet the Press. Gregory himself has been the subject of media scrutiny recently after holding up an empty gun magazine clip on the air during a confrontation with the president of the National Rifle Association. The upcoming appearance of the president on Meet the Press marks the first time Obama has been on any Sunday morning network talk show since September 2009, when he pulled a “Full Ginsburg”: appearing on five networks in the same day to push for the health care law.
