Did Tom Hooper make the decision to shoot LES MISERABLES in standard screen and not wide?
This movie cried out for wide screen. With all the close ups, never got a sense of the scenic design. Much too boxy. Worked OK for CABARET and CHICAGO but not for this.
- It IS in widescreen, you fool; 16:9 widescreen, like 99% of modern television and 50% of movies these days. I think he shot it in 1:70:1, actually, not traditional 16:9 widescreen. 2:35:1 would not have worked for the film, though perhaps he could have made 2:20:1 work, maybe, but it would not have been as effective.
Standard screen is 4:3, by the way.

- It looks widescreen to me.
