Actor Nick Stahl arrested in alleged lewd conduct at adult movie shop
December 28, 2012 | 8:58 am
Actor Nick Stahl was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on suspicion of lewd conduct at an adult movie shop in Hollywood on Thursday.
The "Terminator 3" star was taken into custody during a routine undercover operation by Los Angeles police officers, officials said.
The 33-year-old faces a misdemeanor count of lewd conduct.
It's the latest problem for the actor.
Earlier this year, he disappeared, prompting a search for him on skid row by the LAPD.
His family told police Stahl has frequented skid row, and LAPD officials said officers who work the downtown beat were given copies of his photo and told to keep an eye out for him.
He eventually reemerged in public.

- Lewd conduct is what adult movie places are for.
- How very 70s.
John%20Holmes
- Next they will arrest people for eating in restaurants.
- Who goes to these places?
- Whoring himself out for drug money.
Roberty Downey Jr
- Did he ever make a film with Bryan Singer?
- What kind of movie was he watching, straight or...?
Anonymous
- Hum...so the cops routinely go in these places to annoy people?
- I guess there are no real crimes to fight.
- Story is useless without nude frontal and rearal photos of Nick!
- The shocking details:
[quote] Law enforcement tells us, LAPD undercover vice officers were conducting a routine check of an adult store in Hollywood around 6PM -- and found Stahl alone in a private booth, watching a porno, and committing a "lewd act."
[quote]We're told the "Terminator 3" star appeared to be "touching himself" -- you can figure out the rest -- and he was booked for lewd conduct ... a misdemeanor.

- "I guess there are no real crimes to fight."
Because there is only one cop in L.A. and he can only fight one crime at a time!
- Disgusting!
Fred%20Willard
- It might not be a crime in your book, Buster, but the Los Angeles Police Department is working to make this City a fit place for women and kids!
Joe%20Friday
- Is it true that the booths in L.A. aren't allowed to have doors on them? (Thought I read that somewhere...)
- Why go to such a place in the Internet era?
- I miss CARNIVALE.
- Shame about his drug issues. He was one fine specimen a few years back. Addiction is a horrible thing. I hope he overcomes it someday. This arrest was a little silly, however. Masturbating in a sex shop booth, who'd a thunk? Jeez, Louise. Doesn't the L.A.P.D. have bigger fish to fry?
- His life is starting to mirror that awful "Twist" movie he was in.
Come on DL investigators, was it gay or straight porn????
- So, he doesn't have a DVD player?
Was that sold for meth?
- Does L.A. have any major crimes (gang wars, robbery, corruption) or are the cops there going after "broken window" offences like "lewd conduct" in porn theatres/
- Meh, he was never that hot.
- R14 Joe, they let women and kids in porn theaters?
- ever notice that it's always the fucking LAPD to make these ridiculous lewd conduct arrests? I mean, the guy was alone in a booth jerking off. how is that hurting anybody? the LAPD has nothing better to do? Geez, they are jackasses. This is the same bullshit they did to Fred Willard.
- Stahl showed his cock & bush in the movie "Bully".
Michael%20Pitt
- I know you are but what am I?
Pee Wee
- Meanwhile every one of those cops went home and wanked to internet porn after the arrest. What's the difference? He wasn't out in public.
- Wonder if he was really "alone" or using a glory hole.
- Isn't it likely he was in the ABS to find someone to have sex with? If he only wanted to get off solo, he wouldn't have gone there.
Anyone know what store? What kind of porn??
- He had a nice bush in "Bully"

Michael%20Pitt
- LAPD is hardcore when it comes to vice arrests, even the dumbest and most harmless ones like Stahl and Fred Willard. Always has been. Parks, massage parlors, bars, video stores...
- Talk about a victimless crime .... well, except for the chicken he was choking. His own.
- The least he could have done is move into the washroom and spare us all from his indecent and lewd act.
George Michael
- Pure harrassment of gay people. LAPD has been notorious of peep show stings for decades. It's sad that he was caught. Most likely he was watching a gay movie or they would have let it go. People rarely fight these things, even though someone in a booth does have a legal expectation of privacy, and this is one way the police have always made coin by picking on gays.
- THAT is what passes for the T3? I mean Arnold was at least built. This guy is a wuss with gay face.
- I have never understood this type of arrest - lewd conduct in an adult bookstore - in this case, inside a private booth no less. The only people offended by the conduct are the cops that go looking for the behavior - otherwise, everyone just ignores what is going on or participates - no one is bothered. It's an easy way to make money for the police.
- I would have given him a helping hand....
Seriously, this is what pisses me off...why can't people do what they want in a fucking porn arcade?
I support people getting busted for, say, having sex in a public park or restroom, or somewhere else that people who are not anticipating those activities might wander into.
But then there should be a freedom for consenting adults to go into a private business and either jack off or have sex. This is fucked up prudery.
- There must have been a hole, R28 .... or there was no 'door' on the booth. I don't know how else the police would've seen the 'lewd act'.
Did they just rip open the door and yell, "Caught Ya !" ???
- What are those private booths for if not to jerk off to porn in?
- You'd think an actor wouldn't have trouble finding someone to have sex with him.
- [quote]Law enforcement tells us, LAPD undercover vice officers were conducting a routine check of an adult store in Hollywood around 6PM -- and found Stahl alone in a private booth, watching a porno, and committing a "lewd act."
Isn't that what customers usually do at an adult bookstore? Nothing new there. If the actor was smart enough to watch pron in the privacy of his own home, he wouldn't have been arrested.
- Same thing happened to Pee Wee Herman.
- Bottom line, if you're going to an ABS, you are looking to hook up .... not to watch the movies. That is what the internet is for. (well, it's for hooking up too, Nick. You should try it)
- What's wrong with what he was doing?
And as has been pointed out in the past, why are the police wasting their time prosecuting consensual sex?
- [quote]Did he ever make a film with Bryan Singer?
No, but he did make one with Mel Gibson.
- Isn't Stahl homeless because of his downward spiral following his addiction? I'm assuming that's why he wasn't jerking off "in the privacy of his own home."
- A Stahl in a stall.
- [quote]So, he doesn't have a DVD player?
Who watches porn on DVD, when you have thousands of sites in the Internet? That's so 90's.
- We're assuming he smoked the computer, smartphone, and cable bill money.
- R48, most people watch porn on the internet, yes, but sometimes it can be nice to watch a full-length DVD on T.V. rather than a small computer screen.
- In NYC we go to the bookstore to suck uncut pinga. If you're going, might as well not entertain yourself.
- Most tvs have internet access now.
I can remember porn being on the pages of a magazine. Now, that is as archaic as the porn on the side of a Roman urn.
- Some of these places have plexiglass between the booths. So you can see what's going on in the next booth. So the cops must have gone into the adjacent booth and looked to see what he was doing. The LAPD has always harassed gays in this way. I bet they make more lewd conduct arrests in LA than in NYC, Miami and Chicago combined.
- It's most probably true that some of those vice cops get their jollies from arresting anyone engaged in victimless "crimes".
However, any cop who pulls out his peen to entice some guy has to deal with nature. His body prepares for sexual release, only to get stopped. And nature extracts the consequences down the line with sexual problems for the vice; problems like those connected to the prostrate gland.
For Mr. Stahl: Work on your self-esteem!

- Were the cops able to view the nice bush that he showed in "Bully"?
Does he still have the bush or does he shave?
- So "jacking off" is considered a crime? That's human nature.
- I bet he was eiher getting a BJ or giving one via a gloryhole.
Still does not justify arresting someone.
- Poor Nick, TMZ embarrassing the poor guy after the arrest.
http://m.tmz.com/%23Article/2012/12/27/nick-stahl-terminator-3-arrested-lewd-conduct-hollywood-porn-store
- Hopefully we will get details in the police report, R57.
- The officer who apprehended Nick also apprehended Fred Willard, and wasn't Fred Willard said to have been at a gay-oriented theater? There is your answer regarding Nick, and his sexuality, I guess. Sad, really shouldn't be a crime.
Francis
- This thread is useless without incriminating pictures.
- Who cares if Nick was looking at gay pron and masturbating to it? That's a stupid reason for getting arrested. He was not bothering anyone.
- Here's the video of the TMZ guy following Nick around asking him questions once he gets out of jail:
http://www.tmz.com/2012/12/27/nick-stahl-terminator-3-arrested-lewd-conduct-hollywood-porn-store/
- Seriously, money is so tight, I'm almost surprised we still have vice cops. They should leave normal people alone and go after child molesters who are in churches and in college shower rooms, all across the country.
- These cops like to embarrass gay/bi men at any and every cost. Remember the bar raids that happened a couple years ago at several cities. These stings happen not because these guys are even wanting to engage in public sex. They happen because of homophobia. Homophobic police, and homophobes complaining.

- R60 It's a straight theater.

- R60 here is the Yelp review
http://www.yelp.com/biz/tiki-theatre-los-angeles
- The TMZ video that R58 and R63 posted really makes them look like assholes. I mean, who cares, really? Did the guy making the video think he was going to get a Pulitzer for this?
- Leslie must be mortified.
Diane%20Sawyer
- [quote]They should leave normal people alone and go after child molesters who are in churches and in college shower rooms
What a moron. So you think that college students are considered children?
- Right, R70, but R64 was referring to Penn State and the kids taken there by Gerry Sandusky. He wasn't referring to college guys, just their shower rooms.
Does not being quick enough to pick up on a major story with ubiquitous coverage qualify a person for being a moron?
We think so, especially for a reflexive name-caller.
- [quote]Who cares if Nick was looking at gay pron and masturbating to it? That's a stupid reason for getting arrested. He was not bothering anyone.
Why don't you spell porn properly? It's spelled P O R N. Porn.
- [quote]It's a straight theater.
Disappointing.
This story would be more exciting to us if he was looking at gay porn.
- [quote] So "jacking off" is considered a crime? That's human nature.
In public? Yes.
- Wasn't there a blind item recently about a former movie star from a major franchise working as a gay escort? A lot of people guessed it was Stahl.
- [quote]Poor Nick, TMZ embarrassing the poor guy after the arrest.
Stahl does a pretty good job of embarrassing himself. Clean up, douchebag. Like Lohan, I don't feel sorry for people who piss their success away.
- Whose cock was he sucking?
- We need to get him a gig with Lilo on MTV - a Hollywood Squares type of game show.
We'll need a full roster of addled stars to provide hazards to winning cash and prizes.
Lay out lines of badly cut blow, shoot twenty episodes in a week. Survivors return the next month. Profit!
- How long have you been on the interwebs R72?

- I don't go for that nonsense, R79. I don't care about filters at work or being afraid to spell porn correctly the way wimps like you do.
- This is police harassment, whether he's gay or straight. I hope he sues them.
- Joan Crawford checks in at R81
Victoria%20Barkley%20
- R38 that's exactly what they did.
Police lie in 100% of these cases, private investigators tell me.
It used to be a way to haze new recruits, to force them to bust pervs, even getting them to dress in gay get up and try to entrap men in public bathrooms and rest stops. There are actually consultants who go around the country teaching police to do this.
- Hey Clint Eastwood @R81, did your grandson just tell you about teh internets? M A R O O N. Maroon.
- The LAPD has waves of these kinds of busts--mostly gay men--then there are protests and they promise to back off, then in a little while they're right back busting guys again. I've lived in LA for 30 years and I've seen it happen over and over. It's endemic.
- Are you an elder gay, R86?
- He is a dead ringer for David Johansen. Hopefully he makes a biopic before he overdoses.
- I love Nick. He really DOES need to get his shit together. Rehab, babe. I'll pray for him.
Lindsey Lohan
- Yeah, Nick. Put down the pipe. "Crack is Whack!"
Courtney Love and Pete Doherty
- Some idiot on TMZ said there was no problem with the cops checking out Adult Bookstores, what a jerk! Probably a born again.
- bumping
- Thought he was dead.
- No, R93 ... that's just his career.
- Shame...talented actor, unusual good looks, hope he gets it together after his arrest.
- R72 is obviously new to DL.
- Like his Bully co-star, Brad Renfro he won't get mentioned at the Academy Awards.
- How do you know, R97?
- r97 is stating an opinion, not claiming to be a clairvoyant.
- What about me?
Michael%20Pitt
- Yeah, as if anyone is shocked...SHOCKED...to see lewd behavior at an "adult movie shop."
There are many places where lewd behavior is not acceptable, and this ain't one of them.
Crime in LA must be way down. These cops with so much extra time on their hands should be shipped up to Oakland.
- And to add to R101, doesn't this discourage people from going to adult movie stories? Who would want to go to one if they know they are going to be roughed up, arrested and humiliated for engaging in normal sexual behaviour?
- stories = stores
R102
- I don't think anyone in this thread has mentioned Carnavale yet, the 2 season HBO series Nick starred in. I wouldn't know who he was except for that. It was very good and is a cult favorite. Nick says most people who recognize him compliment him on that. T3 is good, but for Arnold and the effects, nothing else is memorable. Nick would be the first to agree, he's pretty much admitted he just did it for the money.
- [quote]I don't think anyone in this thread has mentioned Carnavale yet,
r17 sees your point, r104.
- Let my people come!!!

- [quote]There must have been a hole, [R28] .... or there was no 'door' on the booth. I don't know how else the police would've seen the 'lewd act'.
Because of poor reporting it's hard to tell. But most likely, he was in the private booth with the door open (purposely) jerking off. A lot of guys do that as they get off being an exhibitionist or they want someone to join them in the booth. You can do whatever you want in the booth, by yourself, as long as the door is closed, but they are very strict about you being in a booth and leaving the door open.
- R107 could be right.
- There was a law passed several years ago that prohibit doors on "private viewing booths" in ABS. Perhaps this is how they busted him.
- [quote] There was a law passed several years ago that prohibit doors on "private viewing booths" in ABS. Perhaps this is how they busted him.
Certain states have this, not everywhere. Pennsylvania is one, California may be another. In Illinois (near Chicago) the booths have doors on them, but almost every booth has a glory hole or two in them.
- Can the Los Angeles ABS aficionados tell us whether private booths have doors or not? This is germane to the thread and how he might have gotten busted.
- They do not have private booths. He had no door to close.
- Maybe he was watching porn and just had a little jock itch.
- I'm really curious as to the logistics of an undercover sting in such a place. That's a hard day at the office....standing in a corner pretending to read "Jugs" magazine and making sure that nobody gets overly familiar with the inflatable dolls.
anonymous
- Terminator curse again
- It's a thankless job, R114. We undergo hours of training to wriggle ourselves under the dividers in ABS and have a checklist to record the crime. We earn time-and-a-half if the pervert has his fly open and double-time if we take a load in the eye.
L.A. Vice
- Check out the heading "Reported disappearances" in his Wiki article.
The poor guy is a mess.

- Carnivale was a creative disasterpiece. It was a brilliant idea but they could never get it right. Season 1 moved so slowly that there wasn't enough action. Season 2 flew by so quickly that all subtlety was lost. They could never find a good balance.
- [quote]LAPD is hardcore when it comes to vice arrests, even the dumbest and most harmless ones like Stahl and Fred Willard. Always has been. Parks, massage parlors, bars, video stores...
This is why West Hollywood became the focus nightlife and gay life. Before it was its own municipality, it was an unincorporated enclave of Los Angeles County beyond the reach of the LA (city) or Beverly Hills police. The LA County sheriff's department (which still provides law enforcement for West Hollywood) was and is much more laid back about these things.
[quote]I'm really curious as to the logistics of an undercover sting in such a place. That's a hard day at the office....standing in a corner pretending to read "Jugs" magazine and making sure that nobody gets overly familiar with the inflatable dolls.
The sting happens back in the video booths, where the hooking-up occurs. Not out in the open retail area.
- Who was he hooking up with? An undercover vice cop? Male or female?
- was he watching gay or straight porn?
- r112 doesn't know what he's talking about.
I just read on Squirt that he was arrested at X-Spot which is at Hollywood/Western. I've been there and had read a few weeks ago that they were making arrests and haven't been there in 6 months myself.
You have to get buzzed in by the front desk clerk or the front door won't open.
There are dvd's in the front and in the back is one section of 3-4 booths, with doors. Then, there is a back section with 5 more booths. On the left are two booths with a glory hole, on the right are 3 booths with a low gloryhole between 2 of them. All booths have doors that lock, but sometimes guys leave them open as an open invitation.
I've seen some decent guys there and also heard a homeless guy taking a piss in a garbage can. It's not in a very good neighborhood.
- R122, For some reason when I first heard of Stahl's arrest that was the bookstore that came to mind. I wondered if anyone actually went there--it looks real sketch compared to one on Western/Santa Monica.
- Thanks R122, for the inside scoop.
- So what you're saying, R122, is he was trolling for guys.
- After I posted, I read that that store is supposed to be closing in February. Someone had previously seen undercover cops go inside about a month ago so they probably opened a door and he was jerking or saw him through the gloryhole.
- Why don't they leave Nick alone? It's his right to jack-off in his own private booth if he wants to. I'm actually appalled at the cops, when they should be looking out for better fish to fry.
- How many of you bitches have gone to this store?
- I live in Canada but as far as I know it's legal to jack off in a peep show theater here. Why wouldn't it be?
- Undercover surveillance video or it never happened.
- Stupid cops have nothing better to do?
- Any published police report?
- No yet, r132.
- Poor guy. I hope he gets his life together, finds the help he needs and can start acting again. He's very talented.
