Kaftan, Caftan or Muumuu ?
The difference between the caftan and the muumuu is that the caftan is fierce:
Muumuus, Float Dresses, Patio Dresses, & Housedresses
Muumuus, float dresses, and patio dresses are all A-line dresses that reach somewhere around the knee. The top of the ‘A’ starts at the shoulders or bust, and the garment gets wider and wider from there down. Housedresses don’t usually have such an ‘A’ shape, but they are still loose and “housy.”
Now, caftans are similar to muumuus and housedresses, but they usually reach the calf—or ankles if you‘re short enough. They tend to be more colorful than housedresses, and they seem to have long sleeves more often than muumuus or housedresses.
I'd wear caftans but would be self-conscious about it, like I'm just mindlessly perpetuating a stereotype. But I like being femme, so it's not a matter of conformity but just what feels comfortable for me.
What does one wear UNDER a caftan?
[quote] What does one wear UNDER a caftan?
Personally, I find that undergarments add a level of security to my ensemble..
A caftan is a piece of clothing worn by those who want to be comfortable. It originally was worn by men in Persia, and then was adopted by women. It is also a modest garment, for those who don't have to wear something tight in order to entice someone to sleep with them. In years past, you could find them being worn by members of royalty, celebrities, and designers from YSL to Versace -these designers also created beautiful versions of them. However, in today's over-sexualized society, where men & women have to show every bit of skin and wear things so tightly they look like prostitutes 24/7, the once revered caftan is now seen as only a garment to hide body fat, when it in fact is one of the oldest & classiest pieces of clothing you can wear.
