So my boyfriend and i are invited to a straight couple's house for a NYE celebration and I'm wondering what to bring. It will be a dozen people at most. Earlier this year we did a Scandinavian dinner with them and I brought Gravlax. I don't want to do that again, but something in that ballpark in terms of price and elegance is what I'm aiming for.
Also, does anyone have suggestions for a good champagne that isn't outrageously expensive? Thanks.
seven-layer bean dip
OP will be home alone with his kittys on new years eve just like every other year.
Moon Pies and RC Cola.
Deviled eggs with lumpfish caviar.
A bottle of Aquavit? (Obviously extending the Scandinavian theme) Or does it have to be food?
It doesn't have to be Scandinavian.
Smashed fried baby potatoes with sour cream to dip them in.
Piper Heidseick, Tattinger, Pol Roger are good champagnes and not too expensive. Better than the standard Veuve or Moet.
Don't bring cut flowers!
Legs. Lots of spread legs.
One word: lutefisk
Red Dragon Cheese.
Cak and graxy.
Why not make easy canapes from halved, boiled tiny new red potatoes, with sour cream and caviar topping. they're easy, elegant and everybody likes them.
Even better, why not take your guests for a ride in your time machine back to when these poor mans Bruce Vilanch knock off jokes might have been funny?
