Proof that we deserve a doomsday asteroid more than the dinosaurs did, and it should land squarely on Britney's head.
What a sad, sad world we're living in.
we are all hypocrites.
Americans have killed over 100,000 INNOCENT people in the last 12 years, at least half of them children. With our tax dollars, with the approval of our President, and our Congress.
Britney earns her money and suddenly people are weepy.
Get over yourselves. We are all killers, to some degree.
She can't sing anymore, always looks like shit, doesn't bother to dance, doesn't write songs anymore, has no personality and is unattractive. She's good at selecting material though...Femme Fatale was a good album.
[quote]I'm stunned. I thought she was pretty much over.
Undoubtedly an excellent argument why you should get off of DataLounge more, hon. DLer reality does not and will NEVER equal actual reality. In the real world, Madonna still makes gobs of money from touring even though she's deemed "over" by DL as well.
She's not going to be on the next season of X Factor, right? Simon and Fox spent a fortune on her, and she did help the ratings (which are actually down from last season!) nor bring any buzz to show.
R8, save it for after the new season even *starts*. We have no way of knowing yet whether Britney will stay for more than one season.
Miss R9? It has already been reported that L.A. is leaving...how come we can't speculate about the other judges' status?
Steve Jones' self-molded dildo
I'm not so much interested in Britney's success as i am that she has made a remarkable recovery since 2007. Congratulations to her.
Britney should concentrate on being a recording artist. She still makes compelling pop records. Her days of putting on a good live show went out the window with her emotional instability.
It's surprising the way life pans out. Back in late 2007, the tabloid death vultures were circling around Britney, she was deemed a casualty of fame, her career gone south and there was a grim drama of pap chases being played out in the seediest Hollywood setting. Meanwhile, Britney's peers Heath Ledger and Amy Winehouse were enjoying tremendous success and critical acclaim. Flash forward to 2012....
Forbes is always wrong. That's been proven. They know nothing, unless they have access to their accounts, which they don't.
R14, Forbes has access to data regarding ticket sales. From that you can reasonably extrapolate what a given artist or band makes on a tour. Also, Britney's "X-Factor" salary is widely known. They're not making a "random-ass guess," and btw if they don't have any factual basis upon which to *make* a guess, they avoid stating a specific dollar figure altogether. (Yes, I know this based on experience: a family friend is a billionaire but not on any Forbes list, because he owned a well-known but privately owned national chain and its sales figures or valuation were never released publicly, or even privately to the media, when it sold a few years ago to a private equity company for a ten-figure amount.)
What has she...DONE...for all that money? She literally reminds me of Weekend at Bernies. Execs parade and drag her floppy corpse around and make her mouth move for money. I cannot believe I live in a world where someone with such a lack of talent can stay relevant for so long! It's horrifying.
I wonder if she's even able to comprehend or understand that news statement with all the mind controling drugs in her system provided by her legal guardian(s)?
R16, at least Britney has consistently *worked* for a living, even before she turned 18. There really aren't any other musicians her age who've managed to stay relevant for nearly 15 years now, if you think about it. Compare her to, say, Kim Kardashian, whose fame is ONLY because she and her family have vapid reality shows about their lives.
Britney may not write her own songs, but she *certainly* has put in a fuckload of hours/days/weeks/months touring (and before that rehearsing for each of her six or seven global tours), and the hours for "The X-Factor" are pretty considerable as well, considering how much goes on behind the scenes that never makes it to the air.
Btw I say all this as someone who's not a fan of her music.
Why are you trashing Britney, r16? if you're so disgusted, blame the millions who buy her music. She wanted to be a performer, she sensed there was an opening for a new pop movement in 1998, she went to Sweden to make the album, she decided to make a provocative music video with a cheaply priced Catholic schoolgirl uniform as her prop - the rest is history.
Here we go again with that "relevant" crap, the last refuge of the talentless, apparently.
r20 - don't you mean here we go again with that "you have to write your own songs to be authentic" crap?
I don't think she'll be back. She may decide to tour (where she makes "fuck you money") or Simon may decide to dump her since she didn't bring ratings.
Simon has already said that they're considering reducing the $5 million prize since the ratings don't justify it.
Who the hell uses May as the ending of a year for a ranking of any sort?
I hope Britney doesn't do another season. It is not a show that brings out the best in her.
She gives the shortest, most completely rehearsed canned commentary on that program. It's as if they're afraid of what she'll say on her own so every word is chosen for her.
Poor thing. Half the time she seems out of it, the other half she seems terrified.
Britney gives the most vapid, inocuous and empty comments on the X Factor. She says nothing!
Absolute horseshit. Completely made up.
She epitomizes modern women's place in today's society.
Be blonde, pretty and take orders and you'll be successful
