Ronan Farrow speaks out on Susan Rice withdrawal
Susan Rice is a great public servant and terrific human being. The politicized bullying she was subjected to was a shameful waste of time.
Ronan Farrow - Writer, human rights lawyer and diplomat, most recently Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues.

- Pardon me: just exactly who is he again, and why should we care what he tweets?
-
just exactly who is he again
Did you read his bio above?
- OP must be new here. Ronan is ALWAYS referred to as "the Allen-Farrow child" when posting about him.
- Why should we give anyone here give a shit what a human rights lawyer/diplomat/the Secretary of State's Special Adviser for Global Youth Issues thinks?
- R4 = Sen. John McCain
- He's a former State Department appointee, and the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen.
His latest tweet is delectable:

This really validates John McCain's strategy of frantically waving his cane and mumbling "get off my lawn!" until Obama appointees withdraw. [/italic]
- He may be the child of famous people, and I agree with his politics, but he's clearly no great wit.
"Delectable"?!? Mary.
- R7 = ABSOLUTE idiot. Ronan was a bona fide CHILD PRODIGY who entered Yale Law School at the age of FIFTEEN.
- Let us pause for a moment and worship at Ronan's feet.
Than maybe r8 will calm down and wander off.
- There's a strong contingent on Datalounge that reflexively dismisses ANYONE who has rich and/or famous parents as if that automatically negates any accomplishment they'll achieve in their lifetimes. These are the same trolls who blast off in Lena Dunham threads.
- r8, could you re-post but this time put even more words in all-caps? You know, so as to sound even shriller.
- I think he is handsome and sweet. He is my ideal boyfriend. *sigh*
Ciaran
- I like Ronan Farrow, don't particularly like Lena Dunham and find the Ronan-Lena-worshiper at R10 to be totally fucking annoying.
- Love him. Actually, I'd love him if he'd come out. Right now I just like-like him.
- I find it biologically mystifying that out of all the kids Mia Farrow mothered (adopted and natural), NONE of them turned out to be gay.
That's a statistical impossibility, no?
- R10, Lena Dunham has no where near the credibility of Ronan.
She's an insufferable, unfunny, hipster cliche.
- Ciaran, I thought you were into older men, not twinky blond types like yourself?
R15, it's widely rumored that Ronan is gay, and we've had posters here in the past who claim they went to Yale with him and that he's openly gay to his family and friends.
- R16, you're entitled to your opinions, but the consensus on Lena's *show*, "Girls" (which she mostly writes *and* directs, in addition to starring), is that it's excellent television. Also, I think it's safe to say that Lena is at this point a much more known name than Ronan Farrow.
- He's a pretentious elitist phony
- Having a name that is more widely known doesn't equal any kind of superiority. Ronan Farrow's CV makes him a much bigger deal than Lena Dunham with her tv show. He's an intellectual heavyweight and an experienced diplomat. She could never compete with him on an equal basis, although the possibility that he could make an amusing cable tv show is fairly high.
Kim Kardashian's name is far more famous than Lena Dunham's. See?
- Thank you R19. His lineage is the only reason the quote was viralized.
As for Rice, she was on television today, finally. Good God, that voice. Put that with her catcher's gait, and sh'd scare the piss out of the meanies (axis of not paying attention)
- R15, I believe that one of Mia's adopted daughters is a lesbian. Mia once tweeted a picture of the daughter with a girlfriend. The adopted daughter is black and the girlfriend is white. As one poster mentioned, there are rumors about Ronan himself. Oh, r19 and r21 are sad and bitter queens.
- The repukes told Obama they want Kerry's seat in the senate and will not settle for anyone else. Obama caved in as usual and told Rice to withdraw. Say hello (again) to Senator Scott Brown.

- Hagel
- I usually am, R17, but I'd make an exception for him.
Ciaran
- And Kim Kardashian is better known than both of them, so your point is a dumb one, R18.
This young man has done incredible work in Africa.
-
Ronan Farrow's CV makes him a much bigger deal than Lena Dunham with her tv show. He's an intellectual heavyweight and an experienced diplomat.
I'm not even remotely trying to argue otherwise. Ronan is, at the ripe old age of 23, already not only a much more accomplished human being than Lena, but also probably all of us on DL.
- Well,r27, Ronan is actually 25; he was born in December of 1987!
- Sorry: 25 then. My statement still stands.
- Ronan AKA Saitchel Allen is cool cute and brainy. Lena Dunham is a fug, pretentious brat full of her own oblviating crap. She is venerable she is odious.
- He writes good jokes, just like his Dad.
- Anything is fair game for some posters when their opinion is 'under attack'.
Of course to them Ronan Farrow's opinion doesn't matter, because
- they 'don't know him' (so his opinion doesn't matter and anybody who listens to him is an idiot)
- he's a rich spoiled child. Of course when it suits them, being a rich spoiled child isn't an issue at all.
- he has famous family members and that's the only reason this gets any attention at all.
When dismissing the opposing view does not have the desiring effect then posters will just change the subject like making this thread all about something that has nothing to do with the core message of the discussion (like turning this thread into a Mia Farrow vs. Woody Allen discussion).
- Ronan needs to get educated.
Rice's close ties to the ruling regime in Rwanda - that government "was her client when she worked at Intellibridge, a strategic analysis firm in Washington" - has led Washington to tacitly endorse its support for brutal rebels in the Congo.
It was recently discovered that Rice "holds significant investments in more than a dozen Canadian oil companies and banks that would stand to benefit from expansion of the North American tar sands industry and construction of the proposed $7 billion Keystone XL pipeline," and that "about a third of Rice's personal net worth is tied up in oil producers, pipeline operators, and related energy industries north of the 49th parallel -- including companies with poor environmental and safety records on both U.S. and Canadian soil."
Are we SURE she isn't a Republican?
- R8 just wants to suck him off.
Oh, and Ronan's tweet was stupid, R8/etc/etc.
- Mia Farrow raised him right.....
- Yes, R33, we are entirely and completely sure that Ambassador Rice is not a Republican.
Thank you so much for asking.
She is not to blame for Rwanda, nor is having oil and gas entities in one's portfolio a criminal (or even a suspicious) act.
Get over yourself.
- Ronan reminds me of a real life Niles Crane
-
Ronan needs to get educated.
I am not fond of the bizarre worshippers this site has over this guy just because he's a former child prodigy and Hollywood royalty, and I don;t get at all the people who are saying hiow hilarious he is when anyone could make the "Get off of my lawn" joke (which has been trite for the past thirty years).
But, one thing you [bold]can[/bold] say for him is that he is certainly highly educated--far more educated than you are or will ever be.
- There is no doubt he is exceedingly well-educated, r38, but even the most learned have blind spots, as his ignorance of Rice's deep-rooted corruption demonstrates (unless he has no problem with it, which would make me think a lot less of him).
And I'm sure he knows a lot more than me in many areas. And I have no doubt that I know a lot more about other things than he (or starry-eyed hypocrites as yourself) will EVER know.
- I remember he had a different name in between his Satchel days and his current Ronan persona, but I can't remember what it was. I think it was Seamus.
- r40 - Yup, that was it. He says he dropped it because so many dummies could not spell or pronounce it.
- Interesting interview with him.
Gorgeous, rich, young, smart, articulate, compassionate. What's not to like? He'll be president one day.
