A tiresome lot. Probably posting from the rec rooms at their nursing homes. Of course they love Sally as Mrs. Lincoln. They can compare her performance to the real Mrs. Lincoln since they were all alive when she was first lady.
To bring a historical figure to life is not an age related accomplishment.
OP = M., jealous that she won't enjoy the Academy's spotlight this year
Sally Field cripples and kills countless innocent and unsuspecting people with Boniva, one of the most dismally-rated drugs on the market. Sally's hands are bloodied and her money is stained red.
Have you talked to the FDA? Maybe they don't know it and where did you get your medical degree? Are you a pharmacist?
[quote] To bring a historical figure to life is not an age related accomplishment.
Give me a break. Like Sally Field queens on DL care about historical figures. The only reason you want her to win Oscar 3 is because an aging diva gets to play an insane, hand-wringing, tortured heroine in a period piece. Reminds you of the De Mille days. Just because she has the same hairdo and hoopskirt as Olivia De Havilland in The Heiress doesn't mean she deserves another Oscar.
R5= self-loathing closet case
R4, you must not know that the FDA and pharmaceutical companies are in bed with each other. The big pharmaceutical companies even hire used FDA employees who want to move on and make more money.
If your next career move was to be hired with a big salary increase by the pharmaceutical company about whom you're making a ruling, what would you do? If you're in it for the money, we all know the answer.
Boniva receives among the highest number of FDA adverse reaction reports every year. The FDA is more than aware of this without me having to contact them. I do not have a medical degree, nor do I need one to know what's going on. If you think doctors and pharmacists are "experts" on Rx drugs, you're sorrily mistaken and a sitting duck. Doctors are given shockingly little education about drugs and their side effects...most of what they know comes from smarmy drug reps!
The Hissing Eldergay (THE)
I read this as "Sally Field cripples and kills countless innocent and unsuspecting people in Bolivia" and thought, how awful!
Look, this thread turned into a debate about Boniva. Proof that only octogenarians worship Sally Fields.
I don't care if they don't give anyone on the planet another award. Few actresses have accomplished what Sally has. If you loather her don't ever go see her movies. Easy enough.
Now that we've heard all about Sally trolls, are we to assume Anne trolls are pathetic and desperate?
So your theory is that younger gays prefer Anne Hathaway as Fantine because so few of them have ever read Les Miserables so as to compare her to Fantine in the novel?
Most overrated performance of the year. She played Sally Field playing Mrs. Lincoln.
R7 you do not remotely know what you are talking about. The vast majority of scientists who work for pharmaceutical companies come from academia. And yes they do lose their scientific independence when they do so, but they make lots more money, LOTS more. And if you are raising and educating kids, you need it. I am among those "scientists" who have stayed the academic route, in chief, because I do not have a family to support and I have not needed as much income.
op=Anne Hathaway (with her hoo hoo out)
This thread is Datalounge pointless bitchery at its finest.
Sally Field is killing cripples in Bolivia?
Oh my god! Can't anyone stop her? Maybe the UN?
OP, the only way Sally Field could've bettered her performance as Mrs. Lincoln would've been if she played The Flying Mrs. Lincoln!
I would have paid to see that, r21. And I would have gladly been rooting for her over Anne Hathaway.
Now "charlie" is a scientist?!
The trolls here are unbelievable.
OP, are you a Hathaway troll, and if so how the hell is your obsession with Hathaway winning the oscar any less absurd that what you are projecting on to the Field trolls?
R23, Charlie has a Ph.D. in clinical nutrition, a science.
I thought Charlie majored in assholism with a minor in blowhardiness.
I'm Sally Field and, when I'm not murdering and maiming thousands of women and orphans in Bolivia, I'm starring in movies...movies for You, my Lifetime Network fanbase.
Unlike Jamie Lee Curtis, I don't shit the bed. Unlike Jane Fonda, I don't preach to my clique of rich women. Unlike Marlo Thomas, I don't beat my husband. Unlike Lesley Stahl and Anderson Cooper, I don't have to blow Andy Rooney's dead penis to keep my job.
No, instead, I visit Bolivia and hunt down brown children and women. Some of them are sneaky; "No, Miss, I am not Bolivian!" HAH! You can run but you can't hide, my little Bolivians!
Ah, NOW it's all starting to make sense.
The OP is an angry Hathaway Troll! No wonder it's writing paragraph upon paragraph in all the Les Miz sux threads. Poor thing.
Girls! Girls! You're all batshit crazy idiots!
OP what the fuck is wrong with you? Is your life really this empty?
You'd think the Anne trolls would be cheered up by getting to hear her perform her dirge-like music in THE MISERABLE PEOPLE, but it's just not the case. As a result they take it out on Sally, her imagined rival.
ROFL @ R27 the mental images alone.
I don't mind Sally trolls just because I don't like Hathaway and her enormous ego.
Has Sally done full frontal nudity in any of her recent movies? Has she ever done any lez sex scenes?
I’m staying put! Right where I am! It’s gonna take you, and the police department, and the fire department, and the National Guard to get me outta Bolivia!
"Few actresses have accomplished what Sally has"
r12 has got to be joking!
What has she accomplished, exactly?
Her unremarkable performance in 'Places in the Heart' is entirely forgotten these days. She's delivered countless hammy performances (Hello, 'Steel Magnolias' and 'Not Without My Daughter'!), and is chiefly remembered for a tacky acceptance speech in 1985.
Is that what you mean by 'few actresses have accomplihed what SF has"? In that case, I would have to agree. Few Oscar winners have turned in such an embarrassing speech, remembered decades later.
Sally Field in 'Mrs. Doubtfire' is exactly her level of acting 'accomplishment'.
