Sally Field trolls

A tiresome lot. Probably posting from the rec rooms at their nursing homes. Of course they love Sally as Mrs. Lincoln. They can compare her performance to the real Mrs. Lincoln since they were all alive when she was first lady.

• Sally Field cripples and kills countless innocent and unsuspecting people with Boniva, one of the most dismally-rated drugs on the market. Sally's hands are bloodied and her money is stained red.

• R4, you must not know that the FDA and pharmaceutical companies are in bed with each other. The big pharmaceutical companies even hire used FDA employees who want to move on and make more money. If your next career move was to be hired with a big salary increase by the pharmaceutical company about whom you're making a ruling, what would you do? If you're in it for the money, we all know the answer.

• Boniva receives among the highest number of FDA adverse reaction reports every year. The FDA is more than aware of this without me having to contact them. I do not have a medical degree, nor do I need one to know what's going on. If you think doctors and pharmacists are "experts" on Rx drugs, you're sorrily mistaken and a sitting duck. Doctors are given shockingly little education about drugs and their side effects...most of what they know comes from smarmy drug reps!

• R7 you do not remotely know what you are talking about. The vast majority of scientists who work for pharmaceutical companies come from academia. And yes they do lose their scientific independence when they do so, but they make lots more money, LOTS more. And if you are raising and educating kids, you need it. I am among those "scientists" who have stayed the academic route, in chief, because I do not have a family to support and I have not needed as much income.

Her unremarkable performance in 'Places in the Heart' is entirely forgotten these days. She's delivered countless hammy performances (Hello, 'Steel Magnolias' and 'Not Without My Daughter'!), and is chiefly remembered for a tacky acceptance speech in 1985. Is that what you mean by 'few actresses have accomplihed what SF has"? In that case, I would have to agree. Few Oscar winners have turned in such an embarrassing speech, remembered decades later. Sally Field in 'Mrs. Doubtfire' is exactly her level of acting 'accomplishment'.
