• The problem with these kinds of solicitations is that the donations won't be tax-deductible. At the end of the year, most people are looking for ways to reduce their taxes before 12/31.

• I guess many people are willing to make donations to a total stranger who they liked on tv with no questions asked, but I find this kind of open-ended money grab crass. Help someone you know who's sick.
