Religious Leader Convicted of 59 Counts of Child Sex Abuse
The graphic accusations against Weberman were brought forth by a 17-year-old who said the abuse started when she was 12 years old. She said that he forced her to perform oral sex and inappropriately touched her between March 2007 and March 2010. The teenager was ostracized by her community because she asked questions about God’s existence and wore thin tights: “

- No surprise this is a rare occurrence when Charles Hynes is such a pussy:

[quote]Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes’ justification for not disclosing the names of sex abuse defendants in the Orthodox Jewish community as a way to protect victims and witnesses — a revelation of which much has been made lately in the press — is unpersuasive.
[quote]“I haven’t seen this kind of intimidation in organized crime cases or police corruption,” Hynes told the Daily News last week. “Nobody gives a damn about victims (in the Orthodox community). All they care about is protecting the abusers.”
[quote]Prosecuting sex abuse cases is always tough — and the closed-off world of Orthodox Judaism does pose its own challenges. But that is no excuse for the kind of lax (some might even say nonexistent) prosecution that Hynes oversaw for some two decades — at least until becoming more aggressive in recent years.
[quote]And then there is Hynes’ nondisclosure policy, which remains unchanged despite calls for openness. Hynes has been steadfast in his position that disclosing the names of arrested sexual predators from this insular community will discourage future victims from coming forward.
[quote]What makes Hynes’ position indefensible is that, while he has long protected Orthodox Jews accused of sex crimes, he has no hesitation releasing defendants’ names in similar cases when it comes to other groups.
[quote]For instance, on Jan. 26, 2011, Hynes announced the indictment of two men (neither an Orthodox Jew) who forced teenage girls into prostitution. One of the victims filed a report that resulted in the arrest of two named defendants.
[quote]A year later, in another press release, Hynes’ office announced the indictments of 43 gang members, disclosing the names of the gang leaders charged and describing the crimes perpetrated against the unnamed victims.
[quote]Any of the violent gang-affiliated defendants who were charged could have easily figured out the identity of the victims and witnesses by simply reading that press release.
[quote]These in-the-open prosecutions demonstrate the imbalance of Hynes’ practice of disclosing only the identities of certain charged defendants who live in certain communities — while keeping the public in the dark about other defendants, perhaps those who come from powerful voting blocs whose support Hynes needs.
[quote]After all, gang members and pimps do not simply “shun” a victim who reports a crime, as is supposedly done by the Orthodox. Instead, they often intimidate, threaten, coerce and, in some cases, kill, witnesses and victims.

- Hines was in the Othodox community's pocket for the most part as that group contributed a lot of $$ to his campaigns. But once the NY Times exposed his lax treatment of these cases, he had to grow a spine and finally did his job with this case.
I just hope this conviction doesn't give him the opportunity to go back to his old ways.
The Othodox community, like other separatist, insular religious sects, tries to act as a law unto itself. And their refusal to believe in Webeerman's guilt is just another example of collective brainwashing and a long-standing patriarchal culture.
- At this point the default position for any Religious leader should be Pedo until proven innocent.
- These people have a right to return to Israel.
Maybe they should be sent there.
- Weberman's followers are angry about the verdict.

- The Jewish community has its own code of omerta. No doubt a remnant from the days when the wrong word from the wrong person could bring down a pogrom on the entire community. But there's no excuse for this bullshit.
- R5, that is their solution, sort of...
Any child that makes accusations will be sent off to Israel to "disappear". They have been quite outspoken about making it impossible to make another child come forward.

- Yes, R5, right after they serve their sentences. Sending one to Israel will not keep the next one from cropping up here. And Israel doesn't need pedos who will peddle their filth there, either.
