No The Dark Knight Rises for best pic? Really?
That was a great film. Those killings really killed the film.
What a shame.
Winners will be:
Daniel Day-Lewis
Jennifer Lawrence
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Sally Field
No love for Keira Knightly, what happened??
The Hobbit, shut-out!
No Best Picture for The Avengers?
This is a travesty!
I hope r4 is wrong only because that list is so damn boring.
Maybe not Lawrence. I wouldn't mind if she won. I haven't seen the movie but I did watch a movie she did a few years ago recently called "The Burning Plain" and was very impressed with her.
Truth hurts, r6.
Does this award even matter?
It's nice to see that John Hawkes was nominated after he was bitterly snubbed for I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
WTF are these categories? "Best Actress in an Action Movie"? Mila Kunis nominated for "Ted"? Is this "everyone gets an award" day? This is worse than the Golden Globes.
The Best Actress would be an exciting list any other year, but Jennifer Lawerence is so damn good it overshadows the fact that we've got Watts, Cotillard and Chastain all nominated, too.
Glad to see Perks of Being a Wallflower get some love. Surprised to see Logan Lerman the nominee, though, as it has been Emma Watson and Ezra Miller getting the nominations. I would have liked to see Miller up there myself.

When is the Blu-ray coming out? I want this movie!
I was surprised that Lerman got the nomination too, R11. He was good, but a little too active in his role. Miller was excellent, and has deserved nominations for the last few roles he's had, but I think the way he comes across in interviews may be a turn-off to some voters.
Some of these categories seem very..."People's Choice".
Best Action Movie?
Completely redundant awards show, and one of the factors the Oscars are becoming less and less relevant - awards OVERKILL.
The industry should shun this particular show if they want to save the Oscars; needless to say, they won't.
And 'Prometheus' nominated for "best sci-fi/horror film"... bwahahahaha!!
They lost all credibility right there.

Some of these categories are very MTV Movie Awards/People's Choice Awards.
So Wallis is up for best actress and is the only one in that category nominated in best young actress (for obvious reasons).
So it will make no sense for her not to win best young actress. Or put differently, if she doesn't win best young actress, then whoever does should have been nominated for best actress instead of her.
Seems silly.
I think they're giving out Participation trophies at the door.
Is this a real thing? Do we really need ANOTHER set of pointless awards?
Broadcast Critics are BS. The only ones that count are NYSFC, LAFCA, Natl Society of Film Critics and the Guilds.
R17, it's not just Best Young Actress, it also includes actors.
I don't understand how Helen Hunt's role is being considered everywhere as a supporting role. It's the female lead.
and?
[quote]Miller was excellent, and has deserved nominations for the last few roles he's had, but I think the way he comes across in interviews may be a turn-off to some voters.
Agreed. I can understand that Miller may not be well liked but how can you not appreciate the work he has been doing?
"City Island", "Another Day", "We Need to Talk about Kevin, "Perks of Being a Wildflower". The body of work he has been putting out is absurdly good and dude deserves from award recognition.
This award show is dumb.
Is Silver Linings Playbook really a comedy?
Sam Rubin did take a good slap at the Huffington Post early in the show.
He said something about critics doing their work, and HuffPo reposting someone else's work for free.
