• He could play Jean's father; he's way too old to play the role now. Did you also expect to see Jennifer Holliday in the film version of "Dreamgirls"?

• His performance in a movie would be laughably overwrought. It already bordered on glam-rock ridiculousness on the recordings.

• Colm's voice in the 25th Anniversary special doing the the four Valjean's was clearly not what it once was - Alfie Boe blew him away, and not in the good way. On a separate note, OP's link lead me to this entertaining flash mob of One Day More in Warsaw...catch the hottie doing the Marius part.
