There are hundreds of good songs written by Americans. What an odd thread.

The Way You Look Tonight by Jerome Kern.
Are there any others that even come close?
My neck my back
Lick my pussy and my crack
Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves
LiLo
What a stupid post. Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Hank Williams, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Carole King, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan, John Fogerty, David Johansen, David Byrne, Tupac, Eminem? American songwriters don't just write great songs - they create entire new forms of popular music. Even the Beatles were just working inside an American idiom, taking their songrwriting cues and name from Buddy Holly and their blues sensibility from Chuck Berry. No one else even comes close.
