I voted for Charlize but wished I could have also voted for Marion.
Who the FUCK voted for Reese Witherspoon?
Just my opinion. After Kidman is was comparable to trying to choose which Republican I like most.
I voted for Bullock, simply to screw with the "Who the FUCK" troll.
I voted for Charlize Theron because she proved to everyone in Hollywood that she is a talented actress when she won for "Monster." She hit that role right out of the park.
I voted for Cotillard, but Swank would be my second choice. I have no desire ever to see her in a movie, but she was good in 'Million Dollar Baby.'
Charlize and Marion were both so utterly brilliant that I wanted to vote for a tie.
I ended up voting for Charlize because she improved so much on her previous work, which had ranged from weak to awful. I know it's a stupid reason, but there are no good reasons to pick one or the other.
R4's top three are right on the money, but I would swap Winslet for Swank. The Reader was mediocre Oscar bait, even though I like her as an actress.
Charlize Theron is definitely one of the top Oscar winning performances of all time.
Charlize Theron...no contest.
Who the FUCK voted for Julia Roberts?
Charlize, but Kidman and Cotillard were also deserving.
Don't you mean "aughts?"
Bullshit! Nicole Kidman was NOT deserving. She had less screen time than Julianne Moore, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the same film; therefore, she shouldn't have been nominated as Best Actress (she also had less screen time than Meryl Streep, who also gave a strong performance, but was nominated for "Adaptation" instead). Had the most worthy actress won in 2003, Diane Lane would be getting the 3rd largest number of votes in OP's poll (behind Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard).
RELAX, r14. I loved Kidman in The Hours and found her to be deserving of the oscar win, regardless of category or screentime. It's just my opinion (and the globes, AMPAS, and BAFTAS)
