Lady Gaga in GYPSY?

Streisand wants the icon to star in her movie.

There's a minor rights issue with Gypsy Rose Lee and Otto Preminger's son which is holding up the movie. I think June Havoc's estate has approved everything.
Maybe GaGa will surprise us all with a great performance. I would have a gone with a great actress for the part. And I am disturbed to learn, if that report is true, that Barbra will be directing the film as well. She originally said she didn't want to direct it. Tom Hooper's name was bandied about. I really hope she does not direct it. She needs to be guided by a good director so this film doesn't become a self-indulgent snooze fest. Love ya, Babs, but you don't direct yourself very well.
Isn't playing the back end of the cow kind of a small part for Gaga?
