• can someone tell me why this song got so popular with gays? Kiki-speak pre-dates Paris is Burning....it's literally like if the Macarena got popular again and everyone was doing it. • I had my kiki removed when I was eight.

• Kiki is the name my brother's stepson gave his security blanket. I've never heard of this particular kiki until now, so it's weird to associate a child's blankie with that. :-/

• R10, it wasn't neglected and hidden in the least. If my macarena reference didn't work for you, let me try again. It's like if everyone started saying "Cool, daddy-o!" or dancing the charleston again......the fad happened once, was big, and didn't really need to happen again. R12, I agree entirely, it would just be nice to see the originators of it hold on to it. Elvis Presley became a softer James Brown, Amy Winehouse literally stole Sharon Jones' band to go big, and now the Scissor sisters have followed suit. I'm not american by birth or living in america anymore....but it's sad that black culture in your country can never just stand on its own. It always has to be black culture as performed by white people.

• Elton John had a love/hate relationship with Kiki Dee. When she requested inclusion in his hit song 'Wrap Her Up' her request was granted but when she showed up for the video shoot she was met with a pie in the face!

• The first time I heard this song (on WWHL), I didn't even see how it qualified as a song. They were basically just talking over some minimal music. Then I heard it again on Wendy and liked it a little more. After I heard it a third time, I LOVED it and had to download it. It's one of those songs that just grows on you the more times you hear it! It's suuuuper gay.

• I played it for my 15 year-old niece and her friend and they LOVED it.

• The only purpose R21 serves is to underscore how tight the Scissor Sisters were, and all in one take.

• r10 nails it. Give it up, PC shrew at r18. Fads come and go, then they come and go, and then they come and go. That's the way it's always been. Blacks and whites live in the US so it's inevitable that musical styles will influence each other. All the American styles like jazz, country, gospel, folk etc are all related to each other and more intertwined than most ever realize and were created by black AND white artists. And when Marian Anderson sings opera or Charlie Pride sings country do you shriek about blacks appropriating white music? No? Then stfu. It's crucial that musicians get paid fairly for their work and are acknowledged for their accomplishments, we should live in an equal society, but beyond that you're just exposing your white liberal guilt and PC yammering. Musicians are influenced by a wide range of styles. Deal.
