OMG! YouTube suddenly has a new look!

I was watching something, clicked onto a new page and it looked totally different. It freaked me out a little, to tell the truth.

It's horrid. They actually implemented the layout several weeks ago but you could get around it by deleting cookies. I guess it's changed for good now. I hate it, especially the stark white color and how titles are now below the videos.
Also, you used to be able to get a preview of the poster's other clips. That facility seems to have gone. Oh, the horridness! I was hoping they'd put a search engine within favorites. I have almost a zillion favorites ('member' since 2006). But no, they haven't. & yes, the whiteness is stark.

FUCK. I was just about to do a system restore on my computer because I am not too smart. I have thousands of videos saved on You Tube and their instant new look is not so user friendly. I thought I made some cyber error. This is only the second time I have learned anything of value from DL. Thanks.

Another new thing...before, when you subscribed you had the option of getting emails every time that channel uploaded a new clip. That's gone now. Hopefully they'll restore it. BUT...I've found the quality of the picture of the videos has improved. They look much sharper especially HD is terrific.

Same as r4. I thought my laptop fucked up and was about to do some scanning and system restore, but then I looked on my bf's Mac and the page was the same. What was wrong with the previous Youtube page? If it ain't broke don't fix it. Oh well, I guess I'll get used to it.
Suddenly all my videos are PRIVATE and my page NOT FOUND. Because my google + account is gone (never had one). Why do these assholes make everything more difficult instead of the reverse? May just let it all go, not bother fixing it.
Okay, here... Add Greasemonkey to your browser if you're on Firefox. Add Tampermonkey (the Chrome equivilant of Greasemonkey) if you use Chrome. Then, install this script (at link). This will change Youtube for you. Make sure you log out and sign back in. All the filters are back for me.

I used to have a horrible stutter problem with last computer, r17. I got a new computer a few weeks ago and YouTube hasn't stuttered once. Maybe you need to upgrade to a faster computer.
I've had the sound randomly go mute on me a few times since the 'upgrade'.

My Youtube videos are skipping too, but the videos I've checked on other websites are fine. It's obviously a problem on Youtube's end and not my laptop. I like being able to scroll through ALL my subscriptions on the left. However the little number next to them should only be the number of videos they have uploaded since I last watched their videos, and not recent activity in general. And not having the sort by upload date filter is unacceptable. I dont want to view the search results by today, this week, or this month. Bullshit!
Someone on Youtube suggested I clear out my cache and cookies to see if my computer was displaying the site incorrectly and that was why the whole right side of the page was just white empty space but I did all that and it's still just white empty space.
I was on last night and noticed the new format. It looked like I couldn't log in under my old id but more like I had to access it via facebook or am I wrong?
Having same problem of sorts. Page and videos are still there -- but punch in my name and you get a "Not Found" bullshit thing. Bumming me out. Do I have to start over? Load again? It was bad enough when they would delete videos for Offensive Content -- when they were two actors talking, nothing remotely offensive. One actress cunt wanted them taken down and used that Report Objectionable material trick and it worked. Do you think they even watched the video or took it down blindly? In any case... Google sucks the life out of all it touches.

Actually it was broke. The original YouTube was the best, then Google bought it and drove it into the ground. If anything I think the new refresh is a step up, not down.

The new YT feature doesn't allow me to sort videos by view counts. See, when I'm on YouTube I love to constantly troll videos with Gabourey "Precious" Sidibe and brag about all our perverted, larger-than-life sexual adventures (any "AntimatterSemen" post is mine). So I like to pick videos that get large view counts so the maximum number of people know about Gabby & my passionate love. But now I can't sort by view count.

One thing that annoys me about the new YouTube is the missing recommendations. But then - I realized it just moved them to What to Watch. And as to why Google decided to upgrade YouTube - it's simple. Because they could. Software abhors a vacuum! So Google decided to Web 3.0 - if you're not familiar 3.0 is the web as social media.

R9 Found this on another site: Do a search for say ufo or whatever and choose your filter like "this week" or whatever and then add the following at the end of your url &search_sort=video_date_uploaded. Since youtube changed its layout this is the only way to sort by date.
Let me just say again, r12's fix worked perfectly and took little more than a minute to implement. I highly recommend it!

r49, gmail is just email, google accounts can include a gmail account, another email account, a youtube account, and all the other shitty google products. A single email account can only be associated with ONE google account. I learned this when they forced all youtube accounts to be associated with a google account. I had to create new email accounts AND google accounts for all my youtube accounts (I have several).

I found out r47 is correct, but that it only applies if you aren't logged into Google. I was since YouTube forces you to register with a Google account now. The option to turn off "safe search" still isn't on the drop-down menu, but if you're logged in you can go to preferences and turn it off. Weird that it only applies to America, but I guess we are prudish Jesus Land, unfortunately. I like how you can't even choose the moderate level anymore. Safe search filters out all porn, and Google is aggressively trying to force that on everyone.

Even if you're signed in, you don't get the option to have the explicit images. You have to be VERY specific. And it's only for the image search.
I think you just have to go to the preference page and turn off safe search. I just googled "leather hardcore s&m" to see how explicit the images would be and a little ways down is a shot of a man fisting an ass up to the elbow. How more explicit can images get?
I had the same sort of thing happen as R46; I received a message that they wanted me to change my username to something more simple. I was unable to post comments. I sent them a note telling them I had no intention of changing my username, as that was my Gmail account. I logged on a few days later and found that I couldn't even play videos. I guess I've been banished.
