The Smartest State in the Union

Which state is the smartest state in the union? (I'm referring to their voters. It's not enough that a given state happens to regularly color blue for presidential elections.)

• Kinda like asking: what's the least offensive odor in an outhouse.

• If you're using SAT scores as the criteria, it's Vermont.

• Tie between New York and California, the rest is just cheap lunch meat.

• MA. They have great colleges. Plus they were the ony state to have voted for McGovern over Nixon in 1972!

• Washington State voters legalized gay marriage and marijuana so I'd have to say Washington. The New England states are usually on the top of the "best educated" states lists, Connecticut and Massachusetts mostly.

• I would say Oregon, but outside the cities, the IQ goes down to the double digits.

• Colorado has the highest percentage of college graduates (not that that means much).

• Everyone knows the answer to this one. Alaska. They are the smartest people in the nation. They talk shit about big government but depend on it like crazy--and no one says "fuck you" and cuts them off. And let's face, any state that could have picked Sarah Palin clearly has something going for it.

• Vermont! Greatest margin of victory for President Obama of any state. Won 66% of the vote.
