$110 a day is considered good?!
How much actually gets used on aid then?
I'm not surprised by this either, and it's kind of weird that the girls sound a bit proud about using their looks to get donations. God forbid anyone gave out of just wanting to help another person.
The Sallies could smell the gay on him and they don't want the fruits donations
"It doesn't hurt to be cute," said Carolyn Wells..."Or a whore!"
Yesterday walking on Fifth from 42nd to 50th I passed a few volunteers. All middle-aged women.
If they suspected he was gay they probably wanted to protect him from all the gays ready to stab him to death for associating with the SA.
I don't believe this. If it happened and someone was turned down it wasn't because of the person's looks.
Whatever reason they rejected him for he played the gay card
I have never seen a female bell-ringer.
r8, the cute ones Ring and Sing in Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
Give it all up to Homelessville!

[R8]
Nor have I.....
I second (or third) R8 and R11.
In NYC, they're all men.
"I have never seen a female bell-ringer."
I don't think I have, either. Ever! And I see SA bell ringers every year.
I knew this woman who told me that her sister told her that she was going to get a job as a SA bell ringer and that she would be making $300 a week doing it! That seems rather far-fetched to me, so I called the SA; when I mentioned bell-ringers I was told curtly "we're not hiring now." I asked about how much bell-ringers made and they would not give any information about it at all. I thought that was strange; why so secretive? Anyway, I don't believe SA bellringers make anywhere near $300 a week.
r13, in The Big Apple they're paid miniumum wage, $7.25 an hour.
That's pretty low R14, especially considering the high cost of living there. In Illinois the minimum wage is 8.25.
I've actually never seen a singing SA bell ringer. I guess if you had one, you'd go for good voice and looks. All the regular ones I see look pretty ordinary, sometimes grungy. I think they hire former homeless people and may even use some cons who're on work release programs.
I did some volunteering for another organization and we used to use the work release guys in some of our fundraising activities. You could tell who they were because they were the guys with the big muscles. You wouldn't believe how many people were into them and chased after them.
Cute girls? They all seem to be tubercular, half-demented senior citizens here in the DC area....
