- Those Mormons pride themselves on humility which is a bit of a contradiction in terms, I know. I think her ego got away from her and she couldn't pull it off.
- Hey lady, you, lady, cursin' at your life.
You're a discontented mother and a regimented wife.
I've no doubt you dream about the things you never do.

- OP, I have to say that as brutal as your post is, I agree with it.
She was awful inside and out. Her Thanksgiving dinner from Boston Market (they did) is just about what she deserves.
No First Lady for you, Ann. No Inaugural balls, no dress in the Smithsonian, no Presidential china, no State Dinners. Nothing.
- R5 Maybe the Smithsonian can feature the Romneys' magic underwear.
- This time on Earth is so short compared to the millions of years she and Matt will spend reigning over their own Mormon planet... She will be QUEEN.
- Who gives a shit? All Ann Romney ever was was the pissant First Lady of Massachusetts. Now she is to be mercifully forgotten by history. Let her cry in obscurity from now until kingdom come.
- R2's post is hilarious.
Rafalca
- She is evil.
But, Condoleeza Rice...I mean Michelle Obama is just as evil.
Anyone that tries to rule the "poor, uneducated masses" by force is evil.
Are you people too stupid to see that allowing one man (and his minions ---side note ----my iPad said "his ho's) control more than 300Million people is wrong?
Why do we give this much power to morons 2,000 miles away?
- How is Michelle and Obama trying to rule by force exactly?
- [quote]Her Thanksgiving dinner from Boston Market (they did) is just about what she deserves.
Okay, this is one too many comments on this particular topic. The Romneys went there because it truly *would* have been a pain in the ass to cook for dozens of extended family members. While I'm sure the Romneys have a cook for themselves, a cook can only do so much. Since the Romneys were way too cheap to hire a catering team to create a Thanksgiving spread at the beach house, then voila! Boston Market.
- My favorite thing about the whole Romney debacle has been the rise of the Rafalca meme on the DL. I usually hate things like that *looks at the "M" Troll*, but a well placed Rafalca post is as hilarious as a well placed Mrs. Patsy Ramsey post.
- Lighten up, R12, I wasn't confused as to why they went to Boston Market.
If these billionaires are too cheap and tacky to do anything better than Boston Market for themselves and their family at Thanksgiving then she got what she deserved.
Additionally, you are not the arbiter of the number of comments "allowed" on any topic. Ever.

Lighten up yourself. A turkey is a turkey. What is the big deal.
Actually they ordered BM because their beach house is being renovated and they don't have a full kitchen etc.
They likely just wanted PRIVACY and a meal. Willard's favorite meal is meatloaf.
- r19, actually a turkey isn't always just a turkey. Especially if you get it at Boston Market. Read the ingredient labels the next time you're there...if you can pronounce the chemicals involved...

- R21, I won't even attack Ann Romney appearance. But I suspect you're old and biased based on your description of Michelle Obama. She's a Harvard educated lawyer who is very active in her support of everyday Americans, long before she made it to the White House. Ann Romney is a privileged lady who doesn't have that kind of track record, although she talks a good game. I personally think Michelle is more elegant and articulate than Ann. Seriously, take a look at both of their speeches at their respective conventions. Mush mouth Michelle?
- [quote]Stop it. This is hard. You want to try it? Get in the ring. This is hard and, you know, it's an important thing that we're doing right now and it's an important election and it is time for all Americans to realize how significant this election is and how lucky we are to have someone with Mitt's qualifications and experience and know-how to be able to have the opportunity to run this country.
She has no grace or class, just an imperious, entitled air that would've caused citizens to want to storm the White House and forcibly remove her had they won.

- Hey gang well that election didn't work out the way we wanted but -- what we all have is each other and that's what counts! Thanksgiving is gonna be a little loosey goosey this year. I've got whole foods to do the turkey for us (it was a little more expensive than what we usually do, and Mittens will have a fit, but come on, kids, what are we saving our money for anyway?!!). SO all we need is for everyone to bring a side. Tagg calls sweet potatoes!! I'll attach a sign up sheet.

- For heaven's sake there is no excuse for a Boston Market Thanksgiving. You are having a big extended family - even if you can't afford catering - than you all, with professional assistance if you have it (and the Romneys have a cook) - share the cooking duties.
Either that or have it catered.
Not that I give a shit about what the Romneys have for Thanksgiving but since it has been brought up here...
- [quote]Anyone that tries to rule the "poor, uneducated masses" by force is evil
So being elected by a majority is now ruling by force?
"Are you people too stupid to see that allowing one man (and his minions ---side note ----my iPad said "his ho's) control more than 300Million people is wrong?"
Minions...word straight off of a freeper website. How many times a day do I read this word on my local news blog? It's always "dear leader", "messiah", and his "minions".
- Hey OP, Obama won so STFU !!!
- I guess her sky fairy didn't think it was their destiny.
- The Boston Market Thanksgiving was obviously planned because the hoardes of Romney sons, wives and kids didn't just show up unannounced. The family figured that they had to have Thanksgiving dinner, but the entire family must be a bunch of basket cases and taking this loss very badly--and no one felt like cooking.
Or I should say that not preparing Thanksgiving dinner at home was obviously planned. The Romneys, particularly Ann and Mitt, were not in the mood for the effort and energy required for home preparation of Thanksgiving dinner.
- How tragic for Her !!

- They could have hired a chef or a caterer--they're immensely wealthy.
But I don't think that sort of thing is appealing to them--they're probably not very sophisticated or interested in food or travel or art or what used to be called fine living. A lot of wealthy people are ridiculously low to middle-brow in their tastes. And the best use of money is to make more of it.
- Mormons are happy as long as there's a nice Jell-O mold.
- Even if you don't want to cook Thanksgiving dinner, there are far better options than Boston Market. Most grocery stores offer a dinner of turkey or another meat and all the sides. All you have to do is pick it up Thanksgiving Day. This year a number of restaurants in my city did the same thing. It's hard to believe San Diego does not have a lot of places that offer this.
My meat market does it every year too. You tell them how many people you're serving and then you choose from a variety of meats and side dishes. They prepare an excellent dinner.
- That kind of makes sense R50. Most of the Mormons I've met are unworldly and don't seem to care much for fine cuisine. Plain food and water for them. Most seemed to travel only for their recruitment work.
- Another odd thing was the report that the three generations of Romneys all stayed together at the unfinished seaside mansion. That's five sons their wives and assorted children. One of the sons his wife and their four or five kids had a bedroom to themselves! This is at least a couple of dozen people shacking up in the same place with plumbing not designed for use by a couple of dozen people.
I don't know if they're still doing the "we are of the people" routine (like the Costco purchases) and lying about their accommodations or if it's an example of the legendary Mormon cheapness.
- Couldn't they get a free room at the Marriott?
- Does Bain Capital own Boston Market or something?
- Has there ever been any loser pol that hasn"t just gone away? These no class ass wipes? There"s nothing we can do! They lost! There is no clearer mandate. Go away! YOU LOST!

R50. And notoriously cheap. According to Ann when she was doing one of her so-called warm and fuzzy but caustic interviews trying to relate to "you people," she said that when Mitt left the house, he often turned off the water heater because it cost money to keep it running. Then when he would return home, he's turn the water back on. Heaven forbid that anyone had to take a shower upon immediately returning home because it would take a while for the water to heat up.
The Romneys may be wealthy, but they're not wordly, classy, tasteful or even street smart. For them, Boston Market is just as good as a local market or caterer that would fix the entire meal with a lot better food.
Remember during the primaries when Mitt insulted the local, 'famous' Ohio bakery saying that their cookies came from the 7-Eleven? Mitt Romney is fucking clueless unless it comes to him making money. He has no world view beyond his selfish, self-centered personality. That goes for Ann too.
Keep these stories coming. They're despicable people. We should even offer Ann, Mittens and the boys a free subscription to DL so he can see first hand what we think of him and his family.
- The posts signed Rafalca were funny like 6 months ago. Now, not so much.
Stop them, stop them NOW!!!
- [quote]According to Ann when she was doing one of her so-called warm and fuzzy but caustic interviews trying to relate to "you people," she said that when Mitt left the house, he often turned off the water heater because it cost money to keep it running. It also means that life either comes to a screeching halt or becomes less comfortable for those who are at home while he's gone. Laundry doesn't get done, dishes don't get washed, showers don't get taken. Cleaning has to be done with cold water. No thanks.
It's another example of his belief that the sun revolves around him.
- Good Grief! Can you imagine if these two got in the White House.
I%20shudder%20to%20think....
- R65. In all fairness--and I dislike the Romneys as much as anyone on DL, perhaps I should have been a bit clearer.
Mitt didn't turn off the water heater when he alone was leaving the house--thus leaving those left at home with only cold water. I meant to say that when as a family they would leave the house, he would turn off the water heater, meaning when no one would be at home for the day. Upon the family returning home, Mitt would then turn the water heater back on.
R63
- I turn off my water heater off when I am gone from my house for more than 48 hours.
Why keep the water hot if no one will be using it?
It's easy to do because my circuit breaker box is in the hall leading to my garage.
When I come home, flip the switch back on as I pass through the hall.
I%20don%27t%20own%20utility%20stock%21
- R68. Do you live alone? It's different if you have a family to keep turning the water heater on and off.
And Ann wasn't talking about being gone from the house for extended days. She was talking about if the family would go off for several hours or for the day--Mitt would turn off the water heater.
- What do have to do to get her to do this in public?
- Yeah, live alone. And easy for me to do.
Might not work with a family. Well, it would, but there'd likely be complaints.
- Whenver they made comments where they were trying to sound like "one of the people," they just sounded bizarre, or like they were lying because it was always sort of strange.
- It is traditional for First Ladies to stay away from making comments about their opponents. Laura Bush stayed quiet. The so-called radical Michelle Obama praised her husband, but diplomatically steered clear of the Romneys.
Ann Lady McRomney made rude, entitled personal remarks about Barack Obama, including that her horse had more class in his hoof than the president had in his body. It was their turn and the grownups needed to be in charge (implied criticisms of a black man as a boy). Two of her sons made birther jokes and said they wanted to take a swing at the president.
These people have tons of money, but they are losers and it felt good to see them lose.
- [quote]entitled personal remarks about Barack Obama, including that her horse had more class in his hoof than the president had in his body.
Seriously? I managed to miss this one!
- R72. You're right. The Romneys tried to be one of "you people," but they loathed the very thought of it. So yes, they sounded awkward in their blathering, or they just made up shit up and lied because they were never one of "you people" and had no friggin idea how to even fake it on occasion.
- The bitchy comment about the horse's hoof was buried deep in a society story about Georgette Mosbacher, but it was there. Such a classy lady...
- R60, after his presidential loss, Mondale served as ambassador to Japan, ran for the senate again (and lost) and served on commissions. Hardly "anonymity."
Oh, if your limited range of vision doesn't catch something, you assume it doesn't exist. The usual solipsist.
How about trying to know what you're talking about when you make pronouncements? Otherwise you just look like what you are - an uninformed tongue-wagger.
- Is one of his sons going to run for office next? Maybe they're starting the "we are of the people" story now.
- Willard will be in charge of censoring the third-rate porn you rent at a Marriott hotel.
- R79, That is not too far off the mark, the Mormons are also the ones who brought us Muzak AKA elevator music.
That makes sense why its so bad. I guess we will be stuck with imitation porn. How are they going to do that for bare-backing videos I wonder?
- Thanks for clearing that up, R67. Leaving the family with cold water went along with being first in line for dinner, so I could see it.
I have a point of use water heater so I don't pay to keep water hot when I don't need it.
- If you turn off the heat on your water heater, you'd better drain it too because you'll get bacteria and stuff in there.
- [R82]
unlikely
- I lived in a rental that had a 50 gallon hot water heater. When I got up in the morning I turned the water heater on and went for my run.
When I returned the water was hot for my bath. I turned off the heater before bathing and left it off until the next morning. I had water hot enough to wash dishes and the like all day.
Saved me lots of money.
- Y'all must have easily accessible water heaters. Mine is up in the attic, accessible in a tiny closet through an equally hole and it's gas so I think I'd have to relight the pilot light over and over.
- I used to turn down (not off) my gas water heater (located in the garage) when I was going to be away for more than a week during the winter, but since the first time I forgot to turn it back on and had to take a cold shower I've never done it again. I live in a fairly warm climate and it isn't worth it anyway.
- R85 --
Most gas water heaters have a "Vacation" setting on the control module.
What this does is it keeps the pilot lit but prevents the main burner from firing up while you're gone.
Saves gas and money.
This info just FYI in case you ever move to a place that doesn't have the gas WH in the attic.
- I click on "last page" and find a thread about water heaters. Wtf!?

Why don't you adjust your DL settings so you don't get that last page mess?
- Ever heard of Legionaire's disease R83?
- I haven't had my settings on a 20 post per page format since the search function went on the fritz so I have up to 600 posts per page. But how funny to go from entitlement to water heaters once you click on next page.
- I don't know R70 but there must be someone who can lure her out for an interview. The more I hear these stories the more excited I am at the prospect of the book and eventual HBO film about the Romney campaign.
- It's a sad state of affairs when water heaters are more interesting than the defeated presidential candidate.
- Because water has a high specific heat capacity, it retains it's temperature very well. It also takes more energy to get it to a designated temperature. Turning the unit off and on for short durations uses more energy than the trickle current required to maintain the temperature. Mitt and as well as some here are fantastically stupid.
- This from the site below, about ½ way down:
"" 8. Turn it off when you're out of town. For electric heaters without a switch, you can turn it off at the breaker box. For gas heaters, follow the instructions printed on the heater. (Usually you can just turn the thermostat, NOT the gas knob, to OFF -- unless you feel you're competent to re-light the heater when you return.) ""
