There are still far to many Country Music lovin' FoxNews supporters for things to change.
I wonder how these same people feel about government spending on defense, or how they identify defense. Do they see it as a merit good? How many would be willing to drop defense from the national defense and then kick in whatever they feel they need to in order to have it? How much would they give? How important would it be? Then consider the amount spend on defense is a lot more than any other merit program.
That's because most Americans are too stupid to understand either one of them.

Why do we have 250,000 troops in Germany? The Soviet threat is gone. Hell, NATO is a waste. Both gulf wars proved we can move mass amounts of troops in a short time. We could save a lot of money there.
