"Calling Occupants...
of Interplanetary Craft". Is this the point at which The Carpenters "jumped the shark"?

Dexlatrine- Oh please, you fool. That's when they became LEGENDS.
- That really was a stupid, awful song.
But the Crapping-whores had released a lot of unintentionally campy crap by the time they released this.
- Karen Carpenter is freaky looking. She doesn't have lips! Was she reptilian?
- I liked the song in its original Klaatu rendition. Karen and Richard were just a generic cover band.
- It was a well reasoned gamble given the success of 'Star Wars'. You also have to realize that President Carter designated the song the official anthem of World Contact Day, something he personally anticipated as a president who had seen a UFO.
- I much prefer her version of "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina" - actually, the Carpenters recorded the full "On the Balcony At the Casa Rosada" scene on their "Passage" album.
