Steve Winwood... I am 31, and have vague childhood memories of some movie, Bette Midler (in black and white polka dots??), and the song Higher Love, which I will still crank all the way up on my car radio.
Yep, the movie was "Big Business", in which Bette and Lily Tomlin played two sets of twins.
Here's another great Winwood track
r7 Steve may be nice but he also seems to be a bit of a prick personally. Has an out-of-wedlock daughter he fathered in the early 70s who was put up for adoption. As an adult she traced her birth parents and tried to meet him but he refused saying he'd "moved on". He'd married by then and had other kids and didn't want to "upset" his new family. Don't know if he ever changed his mind.
His daughter is married to Camilla Duchess of Cornwall's nephew. She and Prince Charles attended the wedding.
At the height of his popularity, Playgirl magazine supposedly offered him some exorbitant amount of money to pose naked. It was the highest amount ever offered at that time to a male celebrity to bare all.
Arc of a Diver, Talking Back to the Night, Back in the High Life - Three great albums.
Really? Wow. I do remember him having VPL in one of his videos.
The reason Playgirl offered him the money is because he is hung like a horse. Huge, thick, and in his prime could go all night. Nice guy, and was able to walk away from the craziness of the music scene more than once.
Nothing funnier than a bunch of white DL queens finding "soul" in some British guy who steals Black music and repackages it for white folks.
Is he Huey Lewis big?
I always liked his voice and he's a looker, nice to know he is packing as well. He started quite young at 16 with that soulful voice. I like his solo albums like Arc of a Diver, Talking Back to The Night, Back in the High Life,.
He seems content to live in the country and not part of the rocknroll scene - we wont see him dying his hair and being trunded out at 70 to sing his old hits!
Clapton is touring again next year, Steve should do more, he is still quite young compared to the other rock dinosaurs.
We can't forget about his group Traffic from 1967 to 1974.
Traffic was the bomb, Capaldi and Winwood wrote some great tunes. At the Hall of Fame, they both snubbed Dave Mason. However it was more on Winwood as Capaldi went on to do a Traffic reunion without Winwood including Mason.

I'm the OP and I'm black, so there's that...
I love Steve Winwood, esp. his 80s music. Higher Love, Back In the High Life, etc. Fantastic voice. And he was hot, too. Winwood is one of those rare lucky people who got better-looking with age. He looked better in his 40's than he did in his 20s.
Here's 20's Steve...
Yes, "black music" is so, so fragile.
Grow up, separatist R16.

Fuck off, R27. Are you going to claim that white artists have not repeatedly stolen music that originated in Black America and sold watered down, whitened music for white people?

Which one, R10? The illegitimate one or one of his others?
R11, did he accept the Playgirl offer?
Bitch, I don't have to prove a thing to you. I am a proud black man and lover of Steve Winwood's music. If you have issues with that, then let me tell you how many fucks I give...
Wait for it...
Ok, no one will believe this, but I am black too and I loved "Roll With It" by Winwood, it still sounds good.
That's so odd. I hated his 80s music - so bland.
But I'm happy to listen to him from the 60s.
