HOUSTON (AP) — Former President George H.W. Bush remains in stable condition at a Houston hospital where he is being treated for a lingering cough related to bronchitis.
George Kovacik, a spokesman for Methodist Hospital, said Friday that there is no change in the status of the 88-year-old Bush. Kovacik provided no additional information.
Hospital officials said Thursday that Bush, who lives in Houston, has been in and out of the hospital recently for complications resulting from bronchitis. Aides to the 41st president say Bush is expected to be discharged by this weekend.
Hospital visitors have included Bush's son, former President George W. Bush, and his wife, former first lady Laura Bush. They live in Dallas.

- Is this working out well for him?
- The situation makes me think of Prince Phillip.
- I'm rehearsing my casket dance as we speak.
Nancy
- Nancy, I will cut your bony ass if you come within two feet of that casket. I've been rehearsing MY casket dance forever. Step back, bitch.

- They never recover really when they get to this point. He's just a reanimated corpse, probably with brain damage from lack of oxygen.
- [quote]probably with brain damage from lack of oxygen.
Apparently an inherited trait.

When they get to what point? He doesn't appear to be unconscious - just suffering from bronchitis.
- Being in the hospital at that age for a respiratory illness is like being lowered into a vat of sugar for a diabetic. Virtually anyone his age who goes into the hospital is guaranteed to catch pneumonia.
- I'll bet he smoked for a bunch of years too.
- He was pretty evil in his younger days (eg. CIA) so I can't say I'll be sorry when he goes.
- I can only imagine the many, many secrets and stories that will die with him.
So many things the American people should know about the actions of their country.
- True, R11. George H. W. Bush even has peripheral connections to the JFK assassination, but he has no intention of ever telling anyone.
Old bastard.
- honestly, i would prefer this was his half-wit son.
- R13, the father is much more evil than the son. And the father is responsible for the son's existence.
- He is the most lovely man In person. I can't speak to his past. He and Bar have lots of gay friends. And Neil, despite Silverado, has been a dear friend to me and a shrewd business advisor. Yeah, republicans suck, yeah yeah yeah, and I voted for and campaigned for Obama but George sr is a great man
- Psychopaths are always able to fool the gullible like R15.
- I kicked Bar in the nads once. It was a satisfying experience that I wish all of you could also share.
Rafalca
- Remember this is a dude who at 15 sabotaged his opponent's boat in order to win a sailing race, and then bragged about it the rest of his life.
- R16, do you know George Bush? If not then shut it. He's a great man. The last of the country club republicans.
- Read the book "Family of Secrets" by Russ Baker about the Bush Family. That will tell you what he has been up to over the years.
- r19 is the flabbergasted queen being interviewed about the serial killer he's been living next to for 20 years: "He was so quiet, and always such a NICE man to us! I just can't believe it...!"
- Is R19 not aware of the fact that George H. W. Bush has been involved with the neocons and military-industrial complex for the past half century?
Guess he doesn't know Bush was involved with intelligence going way back to his days at Yale as a young man and that he was involved with the CIA long before he just happened to become CIA Director in the 1970's. Probably doesn't know that Bush lied about his whereabouts on November 22, 1963. Might want to read about that one too.
- Ok ok apparently you guys know better. All I can say is that he's always been a friendly great guy to me. I guess real life experience can't stack up to speculation and conspiracy theories.
- He seems nice enough. I don't care about ancient history. I just hope he dies comfortably and with dignity.
- Ancient history? As recently as Gerald Ford's funeral a few years ago he was still trying to use the opportunity to carry water for the Warren Commission by giggling at the lie of a lone assassin killing JFK.
Scum.

- He should be out of the hospital shortly and back at the house on west oaks for Christmas. I'll let you know if he is working on any wild plots. For Gods sake, he's 88. Give the man some respect if only for his age.
- I had no idea DL had GHWB trolls.
The man was the essence of evil. Being close to death does not nullify all the atrocities someone like GHWB has committed.
- R27 He probaby prevented more deaths than any man in the history of the world. And all those secrets will die with him. Not too soon, I hope.
- What deaths did he prevent, R28?
- That's why I tried to type "probably." We won't ever know most of it. He had good relationships with most of the important people in the world before he even became President. Had he been able to build on that for two terms, who knows? No charisma though. Too bad.
- So you would have preferred another term of George H. W. Bush instead of Bill Clinton, R30?
