So was it just booze? She just drank herself to death?
Scabies.
Just how much did she drink?
I am a problem binge drinker (female) as are a lot of my friends.
She must have been pouring it down the hatch to die from alcohol. Don't people usually puke/pass out before they die from poisoning?
Surely she must have taken a sedative or some other drug as well?
R5 = Kathie Le Gifford
Her autopsy showed her blood alcohol was more than 5 times the legal limit (UK limit) at the time of death.
I'm sure there are better articles to link, but I'm attaching one that I just found by searching one of the dozen (at least) threads that are still open on DL about this topic.
She had been off of booze for a while and relapsed. She drank as much as she used to drink on a good binge - but her body was no longer accustomed to that volume of alcohol and it killed her. This is why a relapse is so dangerous - many OD deaths are a result of relapse.
Miss her
An addictionologist told me that binge drinking is far more harmful than daily drinking. He said you throw a toxic amount of alcohol into your liver, then you give it some time and let it begin recovering before you throw in another toxic quantity. It's a very dangerous way to drink. Relapsing would have the same effect.
It sounds like what yo-yo dieting does to your body, but with alcohol instead of food.
A lot of people die from seizures when they try to quit drinking.
FYI, alcohol withdrawal is the only withdrawal that can kill a person.
R12, I thought barbiturate withdrawal was sometimes fatal as well.
xanax withdrawal can be fatal too.
R13, as far as I know only an overdose can kill because it depresses the Central Nervouse System / respiratory system.

She'd actually kicked her drug habit but was somewhat reliant on alcohol to do it. She had been clean for a while but the poor girl had terrible emotional problems. Her father's book is quite good and very moving.
Terminal Skankitude.
R17 - respectfully - screw you. Amy Winehouse was a brilliant singer/songwriter and her death is a real loss to music.
Drug addicts, alchoholics- tend to cross be crossed addicted- or at least rarely can stay clean of one when taking the other.
This is why I smoke weed
[quote]her death is a real loss to music.
Not to mention tattoo parlors.
