They offer nothing that thousands of other girls hitting show business when they did also had--a pleasant voice and adequate (well, in Lorna's case....maybe not) acting chops.

• In some cases, the children actually outstripped whatever fame their parents had or won major awards, and I think it's safe to say people like Jane Fonda and Drew Barrymore (and even Gwyneth Paltrow, who is an asshole but who genuinely has beauty and some talent) deserve their fame, despite the fact that many doors were opened for them because of their last names. The ones who seem despicable to me are the children and nephews of Francis Ford Coppola. An untalented and dislikable crowd.

Being from a showbiz family got her in the door. Chris Pine and Rashida Jones are not without appeal, but would they have gotten anywhere without family connections?

• Rashinda Jones, no. She is homely as homely can be and a boring actress to boot. Chris Pine, yes. There is always a place for a conventional, yet extraordinarily beautiful young man in film.

• Didn't JD Salinger's son Matt become an actor? He sort of came and went in the late 70s...

• I am surprised no one has mentioned Anderson Cooper yet. If it wasn't for his mother being Gloria Vanderbilt he wouldn't be where he is today. I doubt anyone would even know who he is.

" She's not really an example of nepotism, more of someone sleeping their way to the middle. She had a middling career as an ingenue before she married Apatow, and he's kept her working long after her ingenue days ended.
