he's hot, but ever did he do in the first place, I'd ask.
No way, OP.
I hope not.
"Troy" was the peak of his popularity.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him again. He's handsome and competent. He just didn't have "it."
With the exception of STAR TREK (where his role was basically a cameo), R4 is right about Bana: he's been box office poison since TROY.
He was hot looking, but also really aloof and off-putting and never really connected with audiences.
The last big film he was in was the new "Star Trek" a few years ago where he played the villain, but he was no Khan, and was largely forgettable.
He was a this hottest in Munich which was also a great movie.
He played a Star Trek villain which means his career was already on the decline (see Malcolm McDowell, F. Murray Abraham)
He has always looked like a buffed up Corey Feldman to me. And that makes my skin crawl.
He's incredible! One day, we"ll be together.
Hot in Troy.
agree R14, so HOT in Troy!
If he's looking to regenerate some buzz, I recommend a full-frontal scene in anything.
He was so sexy in Munich.
His career has been interesting because he was much more of a comedian than anything else until the Australian film "Chopper," where he proved he had dramatic chops. The Australians went nuts about him and compared his performance to Russell Crowe's in "Romper Stomper," and thought it would catapult him to Hollywood as "Romper Stomper" did for Crowe (which is exactly what happened) and that he'd take off and be a giant star just like Crowe (which is exactly what didn't happen).
The camera loves him, and he's not a bad actor at all--he's very thoughtful and contemplative and passive, however, which seems at odds with his hunk image. (He's not an explosive brooder like Crowe is -- he's more recessed and intelligent.) Unfortunately, he's had terrible box office luck: "The Hulk," "Troy" and "Munich" were all expected to cause a sensation of one kind or another, and none of them did. I'm not sure if the fault was in any way his, though it is interesting that he keeps getting attached to action films that get faulted for ultimately being too ponderous.
It's funny to me he's not done comedy in the US, since that's his training.
Yes, he did FUNNY PEOPLE, which was also a major B.O. disappointment.
He suffers from tinynip syndrome.
It's a shame that we live in a world where Channing Tatum's acting career flourishes while Eric Bana's stalls.
I really like him, but he needs to luck into a really good role in a high-profile movie if he still wants a Hollywood career. His latest film, Deadfall, premiered on Video on Demand earlier this month. It's supposed to be in theaters Dec. 7, but I doubt it will be a wide release.
Bana had more breaks than any other actor in living memory.
2003: Hulk was a disappointment. Didn't make him a big star.
2004: Troy was a hit but he shared the screen with Brad Pitt, who stole the film. Didn't make him a big star.
2005: Munich was a flop (with one of the worst sex scenes ever). Didn't make him a big star.
2006 to 2008: Appeared in a series of low-key films which didn't make him a star.
2009: Star Trek, Funny People and Time Traveler's Wife. Star Trek is a big hit but he played a villain with nothing to do. FP and TTW go nowhere. None of the films made him a star.
Is he over? Most definitely.
He's got a banging body but unfortunately he sorta resembles Corey Feldman. No one can say he didn't get a chance. Few people got as many big projects in a row as Bana.

What, you got something against hugely pregnant sex?
He was still on the up-and-up after Munich, but what he did after that bombed - Lucky You and The Other Boleyn Girl; the latter in particular had high expectations and did terribly.
Eric Bana wants to do more comedies, and less drama. I think that's a mistake on Bana's part.
Plus, he's 44 years old. It's a little late for him to reinvent himself professionally, much less break through as a leading man.
Wasn't "Time Traveler's Wife" also expected to overperform but did the opposite?
He was nude for a lot of the film and that *still* didn't bring in the fraus.
He's a lot like Brad Pitt; famous for his looks but lots of acting chops underneath. He has no tabloid-ready wife at his side, so he will have to look for a script/project to let his talent burn through.
He's most definitely got a stench on him not only after all those high profile bombs, but his indie movies have all been flops as well. It's too bad because I always liked him.
Oh God, "The Other Boleyn Girl"! Horrible, horrible film, how Portman and Johanssen managed to find work after that I don't know. They were just horrible, amateurish, unbelievably bad. Johanssen in particular proved she can't do anything with a historical character but look good in the costumes.
Bana was bad, too, especially since his Henry VIII sounded awfully Australian at times. But he wasn't AS bad as the leads.
Apparently very well endowed.
He doesn't seem to care that he isn't an A Lister. Spends at least half the year in Melbourne with his family. Still getting okish film roles, just not the really big roles unfortunately.

Tell us more, R36! Sources, info, pics?
What's our gut instinct about Eric Bana's GIRTH?
I like him a lot for the obvious reasons- very hot- much hotter (and better actor) than Pitt in Achilles- hope he keeps making flicks.
I walked past him once on the street. It was at some movie premiere he was attending in my neighborhood (SVA Theater on 23rd in Chelsea, NY). I was practically right on top of him before I realized he was Eric Bana.
Completely average in looks, with a doughy body and a pock-marked face. He was sort of handsome but no one you would be head-over-heels about. He must have STARVED himself for Troy, because he is definitely a carb lover. He seemed like a sweet quiet guy, but not a movie star. Clive Owen, on the other hand - same pock-marked face - radiates sex appeal in person.
If he wants to do comedies, he should do one in drag. I might even invest in that film.
The guy was a charisma vacuum. good riddance.
[quote]How tall is he? Anyone?
Funny video R44. He was HOT! Still is, to me.
Never did enough nudity.
He has been replaced by Joe Manganiello.
He looked so hot in Troy. Did they darken his hair? I wouldn't have recognized him from that first pic. Why didn't Munich make more money? It was well acted and dramatic.
I thought MUNICH was terrible, but I fault the script and direction more than the actors. What could have been suspenseful and tragic was incredibly dull and self-righteous.
He fixed his nose, but not his ears?
He barely showed his ass, let alone his cock.
You need to show more of yourself if you want to be successful.
Most Australian pretty boys can't really act, so I'm not surprised that he flops over and over again. The successfully Aussie male actors in Hollywood are either known for just being pretty or having big muscles in roles where they have either no emotion or act angry.
Is he over? Honey, he never started IMO. He is NOT leading man material but he is a competent character actor which he has proven by the myriad small roles he has played over the years.
He showed his ass in Munich during some sex scenes. Boy, he's got a munchable ass..
He did full frontal in The Hulk (from a distance, of course).
can we discuss his GIRTH please??
what does Eric Bana's hole smell like pls?
roses and cinnamon
R61 Last I checked, it smelled like Vaseline and my jizz.
