Give Me All Your Loving was a better comeback single.
I like it and she sounds great for a woman her age. DEFINITELY infinitely better than Vadge's "Gimme All Your Luvin' " lmao. Then again, Cyndi's "Sex Is In The Heel" was a great song too and didn't make much of an impact a couple months ago.
It's very now!
Lauper's Sex is in the Heel was just a remix of something from her Kinky Boots musical. Wouldn't have expected it to do that well.
Cher is one of those freaks of nature. Although she ages physically, her voice remains in great shape, strong and clear.
I love Cher, queen of the universe.
[quote] Although she ages physically, her voice remains in great shape, strong and clear.
Gee . . . wonder who that is possible . . .
R8. I've seen Cher in concert. Her voice is strong.
There's something funny to me about a 66yo woman making dance club music...even if it is Cher.
[quote] I've seen Cher in concert. Her voice is strong.
If fact, it's so strong, it sounds EXACTLY like the track on the CD! Oh, wait . . .
Cher rules and sounds a lot better than a certain pop star who is about 10 years her junior.
It's so stupid when singers with huge gay fanbases release songs that are anti-male, i.e. Beyonce Who Runs the World (Girls) which was a huge flop.
I take it back - it's not anti-male, but just excludes men.
I'm still waiting for Cher to sing another ballad like "The Way Of Love."
Sweet! Another Madonna thread. We don't have nearly enough about her.
Love it! Thanks, OP.
Cher hasn't had a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 since Believe in early 1999, it was also her only hit song of the last 20 years.
This new song is beneath Cher's talent. She should do an album of adult pop aimed at people in their 30s, 40s and beyond. Sure, stuff aimed at the teen and 20's marked sells better if it's a hit, but good God, why not do something interesting and classy instead of more formulaic crap. Same goes for that shit on Madonna's last album.
Act like adults, ladies.
Didn't she retire in the 90s? I thought "Believe" was her retirement song.
Tell the truth
This is woman's world
You don't hate on Cher
You just don't.
R21. Cher did not retire. She announced that her Farewell Tour was her last tour. She would still record, make movies, etc., but she would no longer tour (we'll see about that).
R15, R20. I agree; I wish Cher would record an album of adult contemporary songs.
GAY A&R PEOPLE AND RECORD EXECS WHO READ DATALOUNGE, BRING BACK ADULT CONTEMPORARY!! No, Bruno Mars and Pink do not count as adult contemporary. I'm talking ballads, slightly cheesy, but something you can listen to in the background. Kind of what Shania was going for like "When you Kiss me" and other cheese like that. Some R&B may count as adult contemporary, but I'm not thinking Kelly Clarkson "rock ballads." I want real, genuine adult contemporary songs.
Nice try at current dance pop, but it's not catchy.
Is she actually a person anymore? Can she record at all without a vocoder? It's getting embarassing.
I love all things Cher but this single does nothing for me. Sounds like something a forgotten dance diva would record for one last hit in the gay clubs and a few appearances at gay pride events. So...perfect, I guess.
I just can't imagine hearing it anywhere but RuPaul's Drag Race.
What a load of crap. There's no melody. Her voice is fantastic, but this song is awful.
[quote][R21]. Cher did not retire. She announced that her Farewell Tour was her last tour. She would still record, make movies, etc., but she would no longer tour (we'll see about that).
Cher already announced her 2013 world tour.
She pulled a Tina Turner.
Well you know the old Joan Rivers joke about only the cockroaches and Cher surviving a nuclear war.
This will get play in gay bars only.
Not only, R32. My 62 year-old mom will be dancing around her living room to it.
My mom heard it and thought it would be a good gym song lol. She's 59 and always liked Cher.
I don't think it's THAT bad, people. It could have used something edgier to make it stand out, but it doesn't suck.
Curious? Where r Gay Friends? MY FAVORITE Thing 2 do is go 2 GAY CLUB & play NEW single! But Where R THE BOYS ? SO FEW ? WW NOT 4 Them ?
Hey Mom been trying to get in touch with you and let you know I jacked off today and had a big load
lol R35 Cher's twitter is awesome.
I've listened to the song a bunch of times now and I like it...her vocal is really strong...it's true the beat could be better but I still dig it.
Totally disagree, R13. But then I'm one of those gays with mostly female friends, and I love female empowerment anything.
I don't like the song, but I don't listen to dance music all that often. I do think her vocal is really strong.
Huge fan here but WW isn't a good song despite terrific vocals. Not smart to direct a song to half the population. Country rock would have been more interesting, Cher.
I love Cher, but this song is blah. It won't go anywhere, but I'm sure the label is aiming for the club market (what's left of it).
No. Sounds discordant and angry. Her fun, melodic stuff is much better.
I hope she has a hit on her upcoming album cuz this song unfortunately will flop despite her voice sounding good on it.
I guess it died. :(
[quote]Curious? Where r Gay Friends? MY FAVORITE Thing 2 do is go 2 GAY CLUB & play NEW single! But Where R THE BOYS ? SO FEW ? WW NOT 4 Them ?
Why on earth does Cher think that gay men would love a song about it being a "Woman's World"? Just because we're gay doesn't mean we're women.
Besides the boring lyrics, the song is simply plain and boring. She needs to stop with the generic dance music and either do a pop or rock album.
I was just thinking about this song today-I guess it has ended up like one of Mooriah's "teaser" songs-a first release that tanks so they claim it wasn't an actual release at all.
What is Woman's World? A magazine?
Cher claims her new album is finished, but of course, we've been hearing that for the last 3 years, so I'm not holding my breath.
When/if it ever comes out, I hope it's better than that "Woman's World" shit she released last fall.
I thought she had a farewell tour. Why does she keep coming back?
Either her or her record company is stupid - 7 months after premiering this shitty song to a lukewarm response, they are STILL trying to promote this song and Cher will be performing it on "The Voice" next week. Why try reviving a song that was DOA when it first heard 7 months ago? Is her new album so bad that this is as good as it gets for a lead single?
"Believe" was such a lucky fluke for her. She rode that gravy train for millions in tour dollars, but has floundered since.
I'm one of the few who liked "Burlesque", but I only needed to see it once.
If I was her, I would turn a bunch of standards into disco songs, ala Liza with "Losing My Mind" or Donna Summer doing popera. Her fans are aging gay men.

R65 Not only that, but as R63 said, how are gay men (her main fanbase) supposed to relate to a song about female empowerment? Kind of stupid. She should have done a song her main fanbase could relate to.
In any case, the song has been out for a week now, and hasn't appeared on any chart yet. Not surprised, considering the song sounds dated and the lyrics are stupid.
And yes, the "performance" (her tapping her foot and snapping her fingers) on "The Voice" was horrendous.
She's repeating herself? You act surprised. You've never heard of Cher and Cher Alike?
Her song is so lame. She's better than this. She's just super lazy though...she holds onto songs for like FOREVER and then releases them when they sound super dated.
Great song, I have to have it!
I agree - lame song. It's sounds so dated and the lyrics are stupid. Why is a 67 year old singing about "dancing on the club floor"? Silly.
I'll admit one song by Cher that I love is "Alive Again."
R75 That was actually a really good song. In fact, most of the Living Proof album was really good. I still think that "The Music's No Good Without You" should have been released in America instead of that stupid "Song For The Lonely". They chose terrible singles in the US.
Chertron/Cherbot, we like CHer. I just think her best dance music always has a melancholy air. She sounds very unbelievable singing about it being a "Woman's World" when was/is the product of a male zvengali, has men write and produce all her music, has men (Bob Mackie, etc.) design all her clothing, hires men to do her interior design. I mean, the sentiment that women run the world is fine, but she's really not an example of this.
Are we allowed to call this song a massive flop now?
Huge Cher fan here and while Believe got her back on the radar, it was pretty much a last ditch effort and they didn't seem to promote anything else from that album, like ALL OR NOTHING (linked below, which is fabulous). They didn't promote her follow up CD, LIVING PROOF, at ALL. And this was really good. All the songs were bright, top 40 melodic that would have kept her career going. Her new song is just a mess. It's not upbeat and you can't sing along with it, which are always the hallmarks of good pop songs.
[quote]Are we allowed to call this song a massive flop now?
Yes. It only went to number #16 on the Dance Chart (aka the Easy Chart).
But r13, these gay icons like their gays femme, not butch. They see homosexuals as a sea of fluttering, flamboyants queens who need their patronage and protection. So Cher and Beyonce and Madonna think a man's world precludes women and gays; they can't even consider a gay man being on the same level intellectually, physically and emotionally as a straight man. Excluding yourself to a world of dancers, hairdressers, fashion designers, and ass-kissing syncophants, these women hardly have a universal view of homosexuals.
Sick of pop gay icons
Fun funny real
So what her face don't move
I'd rather hang out with her than Vadge Liza or Babs.
You're derranged R86- homophobic really.
Just how do you speak for Cher or any female entertainer with a gay following.
That said- Cher looks pretty hefty these days (at the Manhattan Pier Dance last Sun).
Why on earth did Cher think gay men (her biggest fanbase) was supposed to care about a song that not only sounds out-of-date, but is called "Woman's World"? Are gay men supposed to be able to relate to this?
[quote]Yes. It only went to number #16 on the Dance Chart (aka the Easy Chart).
It DEBUTED at #16 last week.
[quote]Why on earth did Cher think gay men (her biggest fanbase) was supposed to care about a song that not only sounds out-of-date, but is called "Woman's World"? Are gay men supposed to be able to relate to this?
They relate and liken themselves to domineering women, so I would say yes.
I may not be interested in her music, but her interviews these days are a hoot. Her Twitter account is a train wreck.
R90 And that's SAD, considering the song first premiered 7 months ago. Most songs these days debut in the Top 40 on the Hot 100 in their first week IF people are interested and it has any chance of being a hit. This flop isn't even on the Hot 100 (the important chart) and I have yet to hear it on the radio.
I love Cher. She could sing the phone book and I'd be fine.
However, why are they 'previewing' Cher's new single now, but not releasing her new CD until September?
By the way, when the new CD is released--in September, Cher will be the guest on the morning Today Show's "Concert on the Plaza."
R93 it was LEAKED 7 months ago but the official release date wasn't until the middle of June. It will be a big dance hit, but top 40 is a different game. The big $$$ is in touring and merchandise now and Cher always cleans up there.
Today's Savannah Guthrie intervied Cher Monday morning after her NYC Pride performance.
Guthrie: Cher, will your upcoming tour be your last?
Cher: Probably not.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
