Town and Country Eyes

I have a friend with Town and Country eyes. You know, one eye points towards the town and the other points towards the country. I just assumed they were always like that, but he said it happened 7 years ago (he's in his fifties). He's going to have surgery soon to correct them. Can you imagine just waking up one morning and being cross-eyed?
