What is Birmingham, Michigan like?

I can't imagine wanting to live in suburban Detroit, but ... what's it like? Nice?

• It's the Paris of the Detroit suburbs!

• Not as "Southern" as Birmingham, Alabama and not as "English" as Birmingham, England. That's all I've got.

• It's nice IMO. It is affluent and has a large Jewish population, which is rare for Michigan. Cranbrook Academy is nearby in Bloomfield Hills. It was one of the better places in Michigan.

• And it's near Royal Oak, Michigan's gayest suburb!
