Should I brine a pre brined turkey?
I usually buy the natural deistel brand, and brine with oranges, sugar, and salt. I have a large group coming this year, and am trying to save money by buying a Safeway turkey. It is pre brined in turkey broth and salt. If I throw the turkey in my own brine, will I draw the salt out?
Confused- No guests want to taste your brine OP.
- Sugar?@?? ewwww. Some of us might be paleo.
- Do NOT brine a pre-brined or "enhanced" turkey -- it'll be too salty.
- Get a Traitor Joe pre-brined turkey.
- Should you lube a pre lubed ass?
- If the bird has something on the label that says that moisture has been added, it's already juiced.
- Sugar/salt is the best brine. 1/2 cup each. Not too salty so you can still use drippings for gravy. The sugar helps crisp the skin without actually sweetening anything.
