Major Garrett Named CBS Chief White House Correspondent
Bob Schieffer made the announcement on Sunday's "Face The Nation." The position had been left vacant since Norah O'Donnell became a host on "CBS This Morning." Garrett had been a frequent contributor to CBS' 2012 coverage.

- Didn't he used to work for Faux News?
- He has an obligation to the gods of humor to name his son Minor.
- When he's been on as a guest, they all act like he's some kind of brilliant analyst -- but he always sounds fairly routine to me. Strictly inside the Beltway, chasing the gaffes like the Washington press corps does -- why do they think this counts as news or analysis?
I don't get his appeal. There's no depth to him. Plus, he seems smarmy.
- I find him less repulsive than both Chuck Todd and David Gregory, that's for sure.
- He's actually been very fair and insightful since he left Fox News. I see him as a guest on Chris Matthews' show all the time. I like him.
