should give anyone with a brain cell, pause. Fellow animals with level of intelligence should not be slaughtered and served up as food. This is just one instance that demonstrates how wrong we are about our right to eat anything that moves.

• I eat pigs, as smart as they are, but I won't eat cows, they are walking methane cookers. Pigs are scavengers too, MUCH better to raise than ungulates. I prefer bivalves though, REALLY good for the environment.

• There's nothing wrong with eating pigs that were raised well and treated properly. What we should be avoiding is factory-farmed pigs.

• I agree with you, OP, and can't bear to think of eating pigs (which I reluctantly do) or octopus (which I would *never* do). But you didn't need the comma before "pause." Now someone will come along and criticize my period placement inside the quotation marks. Circle of life.
