• R16 Fassbender is not a method actor, he denied it a few times when asked about it in interviews. He also never said that he didn't want to be free of his character in Shame. Rather opposite, he said that it was very difficult for him to have to live with that character during filming, because the character self-loathed himself so much, that even pretending to be him was very difficult. Actually Fassbender is well known to be one of those few actors that very effortlesly switch between being in and out of character while filming. He is in character while shooting a scene, then snaps out of it when there is abreak and immediately is back in character when filming starts an hour later or so. It was commented with awe by many of his co-stars, including Charlize Theron, who by the way also is known for having ability to switch between in character and her real persona rather effortlessly.
