You really think Spielberg wanted to slime and slander one of our most respected Presidents? It would caused unnecessary controversy and distracted from this great leader and everything that made him great (besides his racism).
Spielberg omitted it because he needs a big box office hit right now and doesn't want to court controversy. But to make amends he hosted a big blowout at Barry Diller's where all the rent boys wore Lincoln hats and beards.
