Interview process question

I went through a couple of rounds of interviews, and the HR department asked for my references. Now, they called and now I am moving onto the 3rd round (a short interview with the Director of Finance). I assumed that they checked my references. Also, they keep asking me if I have leads with other companies; I tell them yes. Do I pretty much have this in the bag (except if I pinch a loaf on his desk)?

• It's not a done deal. You've got to impress the Director of Finance. If for any reason (rational or not) you don;t come across well, s/he can stop the process in its tracks. In my case (quite some time ago), the CFO did not like that I was older than him. He kept talking about "building a dynamic new team to take us into the 21st century" and I guess I didn't fit the profile.

• R1, perhaps he objected to the fact that you use phrases like "older than him." OP, if there IS a loaf on his desk, don't pinch it.

• Oh, yes OP. The job is yours. Start announcing it and give notice at your current job today. And go on a spending binge NOW, because the salary increase will knock your socks off!
