As a young twink in the '80s, I was always shocked at how the band members claimed to be heterosexual. If they are indeed straight, then they are the flamingest bunch of guys I have EVER seen. They all ping to high heaven. I love their music.
Meh. I liked a lot of their music but it hasn't aged very well, and neither have they.
R11, I disagree. I think their earlier stuff remains relevant in many ways ("Everything Counts in Large Amounts"), and the entire album "Violator" is still utterly brilliant.
I watched these clips and my eyebrows singed off.
I think that new order was a better band.
[quote] If they are indeed straight
They're all 100% straight, just like me.
In the 1980s is was OK to be a flamer on stage providing you told the entire world you were 100% heterosexual. See Prince etc.
After "Exciter", which had only one good track (and a further half-decent track), I stopped buying their stuff.
Their latest single didn't do much for me (and the video just made them all look old and tired).
Have they done anything interesting or worth listening to since Exciter? That was like ten years ago.
Andy Fletcher once got beet red in a TV interview when Martin Gore said: "Everyone thinks I'm the gay one, but it's actually Andy" (pointing at Fletcher). And it wasn't just the leather get-ups that made them ping, either.
Half of their songs are about homosexuality and he other half are totally gay... How can they NOT be gay?
