Now that series 3 has ended on a good note the annual cricket match, how would we like the series to develop?, as there will presumably be a series 4 - after the next christmas special.
Thomas the gay footman isnt having much fun at Downton, he can't even kiss the new footman. He should take his reference and head off to London where he can meet his own kind, and land a super job with a hot diplomat.
Lady Mary has got rather boring, its Lady Edith who is now the interesting one - a bitch no longer (as in series 1) after being ditched at the altar I thought she was embracing her spinsterhood, but now has a new admirer, her newspaper editor who is - I can hardly say it - married to a madwoman in an asylum (shades of Jane Eyre!).
How will they all face the developing 20s? Will the rich mother in law (Shirley McLaine, thankfully in only 2 episodes) lose all her fortune in the Wall st crash? That would serve her right ...
Surely such a huge house would need a lot more cleaning staff and more than just one cook ?
Dan Stevens may not be returning, but that Irish firebrand Branson is settling in nicely to his new rank, after the death of Lady Sybil.
Because, if course, ALL if us have seen season 3.
downtown? How about Downton
So we shouldn't mention Downton until everyone has caught up with Series 3 which has already been broadcast and the dvd is available?
Sorry for the typo - it was early morning London here.
It airs in the US in January of 2013, R3. So, while some people might have found ways to watch Season 3, many are waiting to see it when it's on TV.
Oops better not have any discussion on it till then, its already aired in the UK and we have the dvd out already.
Desiderata for DA, series 4:
1) Get Thomas laid, preferably with Branson
2) Get Elizabeth McGovern some acting lessons
3) Get Fellowes some History of the English Language books, so that people in "his" early 20th century England won't be saying absurd, anachronistic things like "steep learning curve", "cut him some slack", "batting for the same team"
4) Refocus the story so that it's all about Mrs O'Brien scheming her way upstairs as Cora and Lady Mary's lover (a sort of female version of The Servant)
5) Axe the whole, miserable thing.
Agree, loving Lady Edith and Mary's the bore. Everyone looked smashing in their cricket whites.
Loved how the gay panic sitch was resolved. For S4, I predict Alfred, unable to stay at Downton with his principles intact, will go cook for Cousin Crawley making way for a new footman.
p.s. If you don't want S3 spoiled, it's a bit daft to open a link for S4
In Season 4 we find out that Matthew is a secret crossdresser and, when in full drag, he's having an affair with Thomas.
OP, those with an kind of common courtesy would have posted on the INSIDE.
You know exactly what you did.
This morning I kept going to the ITV website to watch the next episode and could only find the last one. I didn't realize the cricket match was the final one in the season.
I thought this was the best of the three seasons. I have forgiven Fellowes for what I considered his anti-gay theme in the show which was resolved in a positive way.
No one who watches this on PBS will be disappointed. The Blu ray and DVDs are out but the Blu ray isn't region-free this year so you have to have a region-free player to watch it. The last two years it was region-free and thousands of people in the USA we able to buy it from the UK and watch the Blu ray before the series came out in the USA.
It wasn't a pleasure having to watch the little ITV player using TunnelBear, but I couldn't wait.
"Oh my God. I'm back. I'm home. All the time, it was... We finally really did it ... You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"
We are switching to the new platform for The DataLounge this weekend. All of our mobile users have been using it for over a week and all first time users have been using it for about a month - which adds up to well over one million users. So we're ready to end this phase of the testing and move everybody to the new site. (more)
And yes, we've changed the look and some of how it operates.
Yes, we know you just *hate* it in well in advance.
Yes, we know we suck.
Yes, we are the biggest suckers that ever sucked.
But it was time for a change and with the huge shift to mobile it was long overdue. We've taken this opportunity not only to update the look but also make major changes under the hood (or "bonnet" if you're either British or pretentious or both). And we have to prepare for 2016 - a presidential election year where we can normally expect to see a 60% jump in traffic (yes, we've seen 5 presidential elections so far…Christ we're old).
The site has a bunch - nay, plethora - of new features which will make the site more usable: better search, the ability to ignore posters and threads, see link previews, to pick up a thread where you left off, spam and malware filtering and more.
If you want you can go explore and see for yourself, Click here.
And while running the tests we've noticed two interesting reactions to the new system - people are spending more time on the site and more people that come stay around longer and look at more stuff. Both good things. Yay!
Possibly we've not slain all the dragons and there will be issues that come up during the switchover. There's a help button in the lower right hand corner of the page which you can use to send us bug reports.
Please include as much information about the hardware (PC, Mac, Tablet, Phone etc), operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS etc) and browser (Chrome, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer etc) that you are using as possible to help us replicate and fix the problem.
Please note that complaints about colors, fonts, icons and the like are not "bugs" - they are design choices that we've made and we expect one or two cases of world-class bitching. But they won't actually cause headaches, scurvy, heart attacks, Restless Leg Syndrome, Morgellon's Disease or the vapors (but have your smelling salts at hand just in case).
Talking to DataLounge servers. Please wait a moment...
