iPad 2 or iPad mini?

I am buying an iPad. I went to play with each. The mini is SO light and sleek. Is there any reason to buy a 2 instead? Will I miss the couple of inches of screen?

• A friend recently bought a mini and then returned it...said the screen was too hard to read.

• Instead get the iPad 3 with retina display 32g or wait for iPad 4, which is apparently in the pipe pre-Xmas 2012.

• Is Apple officially calling this new iPad coming out in a few weeks iPad 4? Or is it just an upgrade of sorts on the new one that came out in March? Are the differences that major?

• I've had two iPads...used to LOVE them, but after the iOS6 "update" many great features disappeared form the device. I used to use my iPad as a GPS. The Google maps worked seamlessly to mark my location as I was driving and I could see my destination address. I could also use Street View to see the building I was trying to find. I used it a lot to look at real estate. This is all gone. Although I had been a huge fan of Apple, I am considering not buying an iPad as my next tablet. device

• WTF R9 have you not read the reviews/complaints about the Surface?! A tablet with a trackpad is nonsensical unless the OS/touch is garbage. Spoiler: it is.

• A lot of the reviews/complaints I've read, R11, are minor, and nothing Microsoft can't correct.

• Sometimes you need a miniiPad, sometimes it is necessary for the maxiiPad.

• The world has passed R3 by. The iPad 4 is already on sale. The clue is in the "Lightning" adapter cable, which replaced the 30 pin iPod/iPhone/iPad adapter cable of yore.

• In terms of internal specs, the iPad mini IS just an iPad 2 that is shrunk down. If Apple had made the mini a smaller version of it's iPad 4 it'd have owned the market. Now it's just further fragmented it and dragged it down. In terms of screen resolution the mini isn't even as good as the Kindle HD. It's also hared to hold, much too wide compared to the Google Nexus tablet. If you want a small tablet go with the Google tablet. If you want a bigger tablet, then wait till the Surface Pro (With Windows 8) comes out. The current Surface is only Windows RT, which is a scaled down version of Win8. Then compare the Surface Pro with the iPad4. The iPad 4 really is the best tablet now, but the Surface Pro might beat it.
