Was Janine Turner always as delusional as she is now?

Janine was hot n heavy with Alec Baldwin in the 80s and at one point was even engaged to him.

by Anonymousreply 1November 11, 2012 11:58 AM

What killed Romney's campaign was the level of celebrity followers he had.

Victoria Jackson? Has been

Janine Turner? Has been.

Ted Nugent? Drug addict.

If he'd had a better class of celebrity follower - plus if he had been a caring compassionate human being - he might have won.

by Anonymousreply 2November 11, 2012 12:11 PM

R2, do you really vote based on who your favorite celebrities support?

by Anonymousreply 3November 11, 2012 12:44 PM

She seems to have lost it in the last 10 years. My guess is that she wasnt fully indoctrinated into Repug madness until she reached a vulnerable time in her career. It's sad, really.

by Anonymousreply 4November 11, 2012 12:49 PM

It's the disturbing mole she has. That caused her to go over the edge. Apolo Anton Ohno is next.

by Anonymousreply 5November 11, 2012 12:53 PM

I can't wait to get my signed copy of her 14 year old daughter's book: "Our Constitution Rocks."

by Anonymousreply 6November 11, 2012 1:07 PM

How do you like that Restasis now, bitch?

by Anonymousreply 7November 11, 2012 1:47 PM

Isn't it scary that when a Democratic president wins, we get HOWLS of from the morally bankrupt "We are an uneducated nation re principles of liberty."

This from the people who voted for BUSH, PALIN and ROMNEY?

Is Liberty the freedom to starve in the streets????

by Anonymousreply 8November 11, 2012 1:58 PM

I picture her role in Steel Magnolias to be the way she truly lives.

Blond, Beauty Queen, no Brain.

by Anonymousreply 9November 11, 2012 2:05 PM

R1 - When was she with Alec?

by Anonymousreply 10November 11, 2012 10:48 PM

It's a joke, R3!

by Anonymousreply 11November 11, 2012 10:53 PM

That whole Northern Exposure show was a great example of actors doing a great job of playing people extremely different than who they were in real life. Barry Corbin as Maurice Minnifield, prime example, gay silverfox playing neoconservative homophobe. Janine Turner, playing progressive live-and-let-live independent woman who threw off the shackles of wealthy Grosse Point to live in Alaska, in real life actually a lot like Maurice Minnifield.

by Anonymousreply 12November 11, 2012 11:00 PM

When did she start rocking that blond upper middle class wife / president of the homeowners association bouffant hairdo?!

She now reminds me of that character "Birdie" Tracy Ullman used to do where she pugged her nose and wore the hairband.

by Anonymousreply 14November 11, 2012 11:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 15November 11, 2012 11:10 PM

R5, oh, I wish he'd had that taken off.

by Anonymousreply 16November 11, 2012 11:11 PM

This post from Janine's website tagged 'Alec Baldwin' But he is not mentioned at all, except the tag.

I have had to listen to it for years, on sets, at dinners, in rehearsals, in the make-up chair, at award ceremonies. I have had to sit back and hear the judgmental, hot, mostly uninformed and biased rants of the Hollywood liberals breath down my neck and suffocate the air from the room. Usually, the rant was so hostile, I was afraid to speak up, or it was so ridiculous, I thought it futile to reply. The liberal Hollywood elite, who stand firmly on their right to be heard, their right to express, their right to persuade through art – blatantly and arrogantly deny that same freedom, that same right to anyone who may disagree with them. And like most liberals, they cannot see it and/or refuse to deviate from denial.

I sat through many ceremonies, and one Emmy ceremony in particular that was embroiled with one anti-conservative, anti-Republican remark after another. I remember sitting slumped in my chair just counting the moments until I could be released from the lion’s den. There I was – a captive to their point of view and solely their point of view. I was a hostage, like the American populace is a hostage, to the slick, slanderous and seductive permeation of the liberal agenda.

I couldn’t wait to leave Hollywood. I always felt like I was in a bubble when I lived there or that I was swirling around, being buffeted about, in a stifling, tropical snow globe. It was like that fabulous Jim Carey scene where he was in a boat and beating on the sky, on the set of the world, wanting to get out. I don’t remember the movie… but I remember the scene and the feeling it invoked.

Hollywood. They think America is inherently bad. They think America is an embarrassment. Yet they are gorging themselves on the American dream.

Hollywood, the surreal world, the pretend world, the ironic world where free enterprise, their show business, is displayed, executed and embraced in a riveting way - yet the inhabitants regurgitate on capitalists. Hollywood, where stars, movie producers, writers and agents actively seek glamour, money, power and fame. They unabashedly embrace fast cars, facelifts and fly in private jets. They drink fine wines and insist on free spirits and are the ultimate connoisseurs who insist on living liberty at large.

They deplore censorship. Yet, they embrace tyrants such as Hugo Chavez. They annihilate Wall Street. Yet, they run to see how many millions their movies have grossed. They think ObamaCare works nicely for those poor people in the “fly over states.” Yet, they demand only the top doctors for themselves. They live lush. Yet, they ignore debt. What debt? They think Socialism is a nicety whose time has come – yet, not for them.

If you build it, they will come. Imagine the collapse of Hollywood’s playground. Imagine the free fall of their financial field. Imagine the march of despotism on their freedom of speech. Imagine the strangling of their rights and riches.

They would howl like a lone wolf in a western. They would beg like Scarlett O’Hara. They would scream like the Wicked Witch of the West. However, instead of screaming, “I’m melting, I’m melting.” They would scream, “Not me! Not me!”

Wasn't Miss Turner's daughter "born out of wedlock" with a still mysterious daddy?

Eff her hypocritical ass.

by Anonymousreply 18November 11, 2012 11:14 PM

btw Janine Turner replaced Genie Francis as Laura on General Hospital.

Janine left after one year because she was promised the lead opposite John Travolta in "Staying Alive"

But for some reason things fell apart and she was replaced by Finola Hughes, also of General Hospital.

by Anonymousreply 19November 11, 2012 11:17 PM

She was kind of a ho bag....who got religion

by Anonymousreply 20November 11, 2012 11:19 PM

She's a joke in Dallas, where she currently lives. Miss Christian Golddigger got pregnant out-of-wedlock with Jerry Jones' son's baby. The gossip in Dallas society was that she saw dollar signs, since her acting career was going nowhere, and tricked him into getting her pregnant. She's been riding that gravy train ever since. She's made the moves on every rich bachelor in town, but no one wants anything to do with her.

by Anonymousreply 21November 11, 2012 11:21 PM

[quote]She seems to have lost it in the last 10 years. My guess is that she wasnt fully indoctrinated into Repug madness

This sounds about right. It might go back further. I've read that she comes from a run-of-the mill conservative family with roots in Texas. She was in a relationship first with Troy Aikman, I believe, and then the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' son whom she became pregnant with her daughter. I don't think that the father has ever acknowledged paternity and she's refused to name him, AFAIK. It may be a condition to receive child support. There was Dallas gossip that it was her wish to marry him and become the matron of Dallas society, but it never happened. I think this is where she became unhinged and picked up the bible and the right wing lunacy. Baptist guilt about having a child out of wedlock drove her nuts maybe?

Who knows? It's just a theory. Have any of her ex-costars or exes spoken about her? She had to have had the political rhetoric toned way down or pooh, poohed her family's conservatism for a while when she was modeling in NY. It wouldn't have gone over well there. Especially not with Alec Baldwin

by Anonymousreply 22November 11, 2012 11:21 PM

R19 - No she did not. Janine played Laura Templeton. not Laura Webber. Laura Templeton's sister was played by Demi Moore.

Finola played Anna.

by Anonymousreply 23November 11, 2012 11:22 PM

[quote] But for some reason things fell apart and she was replaced by Finola Hughes, also of General Hospital.

In the MOVIE Staying Alive, not on GH R23

by Anonymousreply 24November 11, 2012 11:24 PM

[quote]She's made the moves on every rich bachelor in town, but no one wants anything to do with her.

Not even the closeted Christian ones in need of a beard? There must be someone in need of her marital services who can become a loving father to her daughter.

by Anonymousreply 25November 11, 2012 11:28 PM

Having a kid out of wedlock is what drove her over the edge. I have a bootleg copy of the entire Northern Exposure series complete with tons of extras, including interviews with Janine, both before and after the series ended. The contrast is startling, you can literally see her enthusiasm and happiness completely replaced by a serious, conservative and blatantly hypocritical tone.

Shortly after she had her daughter she wrote a book, and the promotional interviews she gives on morning talk shows are completely different from the interview she gives on The 700 Club. On the talk shows she still retains a certain measure of her former exuberance and charm, but on The 700 Club she's like a completely different person. She mentions God at least two or three times in every sentence, and her enthusiasm for the book is replaced by a serious, kind of desperate attempt to convince the audience that she was called upon by God to write it. Watching the interviews back to back you can literally see how phony and hypocritical she is, and you can see how easily she turned on the switch and became the humorless shrew she is today.

by Anonymousreply 26November 12, 2012 12:13 AM

The delusional make the best republicans.

"She left Hollywood."

Bitch, please. If the money had been rolling in you would have stayed - whatever your politics - and put the money up your desperate cooter.

Hollywood left you behind: you were one of several young whores. then you got old.

by Anonymousreply 27November 12, 2012 12:14 AM

[quote]Miss Christian Golddigger got pregnant out-of-wedlock with Jerry Jones' son's baby.

I didn't know this. So Janine Turner not only had sex outside of wedlock, but a child as well?

And yet she is judging everyone else and quoting the Bible on her Twitter feed every 2 minutes?

by Anonymousreply 28November 12, 2012 12:47 AM

R23, for what it's worth, I mis-read it, too.

by Anonymousreply 29November 12, 2012 3:50 AM

Another knocked-up cunt trying to pretend she's the Virgin Mary.

I guess she was Bristol Palin's role model because of the Alaska connection. (Republicunts are not good at noting the difference between living in Alaska and an actress playing someone who lives in Alaska.)

Both useless cunts who wouldn't recognize Jesus if he slapped them on their bitch faces.

by Anonymousreply 30November 12, 2012 4:46 AM

Her mole has its own SAG card.

by Anonymousreply 31November 12, 2012 4:56 AM

[quote] have had to sit back and hear the judgmental, hot, mostly uninformed and biased rants of the Hollywood liberals

It's always the Republican Conservatives that scream Liberals are uniformed. This coming from a Party based on an invisible man in the Sky, beliefs that rape victims have Wonder Woman uterus's, that Pro-Life excludes the death penalty and war, that four Embassy deaths is a national tragedy yet 100,000 inocent Iraqi men, women and children dead is "Shock & Awe!" and that New Orleans and New York underwater is merely just a lot of rain.

by Anonymousreply 32November 12, 2012 5:07 AM

Very disappointed to see that a regular guest on her talk show is the gloriously hunky Ken Wahl of "Wiseguy" fame. His wife and her sister, the gloriously pneumatic Barbie Twins, also show up from time to time.

The absolute, most unbearable blight on society. Worse even than smokers who've quit or vegans.

Isn't Ken Wahl notoriously unhinged, as well?

by Anonymousreply 35November 12, 2012 7:40 AM

My sister's a right-wing evangelical loon, and a friend of her's posted this on Facebook the day after the election:

"Stricken seems to describe me tonight. I find myself praying for our country like never before. And yet, "I kowo Who i have believed/and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed unto Him against that day!" I know where my true hope is placed.

16 people replied, all crazies, this one is quite typical:

A good customer of mine came into the store today (he ministers in the prisons...) He said..."I am surrounded by the army of God, what can happen to me?"

Loons, all of them. Totally stuck in the 1800's...scared of reality.

by Anonymousreply 36November 12, 2012 7:49 AM

that's "I know who I have believed", not "I kowo..."

MARY!

by Anonymousreply 37November 12, 2012 7:51 AM

This is a fucking cunt. It's a betrayal because Northern Exposure was of course so charming. She would have been fired if she tried to pull this sick shit back then.

by Anonymousreply 38October 8, 2013 5:58 AM

This cracks me up. She's taken to spamming people on Twitter. From what I can gather, they're all women who have written books, have businesses, or are mommy blogger types. If she thinks this is good PR. Pathetic.

[quote]Howdy! Can you follow me back so that we may stay in touch? Blessings, Janine

I always thought Maggie was a cunt, R40. She made the show unwatchable. Well, her and the DJ's voice.

by Anonymousreply 44April 20, 2014 4:39 AM

Northern Exposure must have been a mess backstage with asshole Rob Morrow and crazy Janine Turner.

by Anonymousreply 45April 20, 2014 4:45 AM

How do you know he was an asshole, R45?

by Anonymousreply 46April 20, 2014 4:47 AM

I never truly liked her on Northern Exposure. She was always so angry and fed up for no real reason. I thought it was just the way the character was written, but maybe not.

by Anonymousreply 47April 20, 2014 4:48 AM

Stories from his co-workers through the years, R46. He apparently won't be winning any popularity contests.

DL loves to rag on celebrities who give their children stupid names. Morrow named his daughter Tu.

Last Stand at Liberty Acres (announced) Mandy

Occupy, Texas (pre-production) Mrs. Thomas

by Anonymousreply 51April 20, 2014 5:20 AM

I'll NEVER stop mentioning that I was thisclose to being the first ex-Mrs Alec Baldwin!

by Anonymousreply 52April 20, 2014 5:40 AM

Hilarious coming from THE courtesan of Dallas circa 1996.

by Anonymousreply 53April 20, 2014 5:46 AM

[quote]How do you know he was an asshole, [R45]?

Not R45, but a fan of "Northern Exposure": During the original run of the show, there were always stories about Morrow's diva behavior. He was a complete jerk.

Also, yes, Janine Turner's always been delusional.

And she sucked on "Northern Exposure". Terrible casting. She was supposed to be a rich girl from Grosse Pointe. Ha.

by Anonymousreply 54April 20, 2014 6:06 AM

There were interviews during her NE years (TV Guide i think was one) that said she was a traditional, Texan, conservative Republican. She didn't go off on rants the way she does now, but she's always had these views. She's not some poor girl (and certainly no great talent) who has been corrupted.

I remember watching one of the first E! red carpets for the Emmys, and she was one of the first arrivals (I forget who her date was), and , seriously, I would be surprised if her IQ hit triple digits. Even for a Hollywood ho bag she was a serious ditz.

So, in other words, she was always a hypocritical Republicunt, but as long as she had some sort of career she didn't talk too much about it. Once that was kaput, however, she went....off. Plus there's money to be made in cultivating that niche.

Her speech at the Republican convention was...well, I really have no words, actually.

As for the part of her blog post r49 cited....I hate to admit there is a lot of truth in that. But her belief system is hardly the solution.

by Anonymousreply 55April 20, 2014 6:22 AM

R52 , I think you're on to something. Mrs. Turner has never truly gotten over Young Alec's thick Long Island cock! That's why she hasn't stopped talking about him in 30 years. Let's not forget what a smoldering hot piece of ass Alec was in his day. Definitely hot enough to drive a girl bat shit crazy if she lost him.

Alec became a very vocal Liberal so OF COURSE Janine would go on to become a Loud & Proud Wingnut. Anything to get back at him for taking that cock away!

Nose job or no? I've never seen "before" pics but it has that "look." Although it flatters her face well - sometimes (occasionally) a nose job can look kind of fake yet still very much improve the looks of someone (ie Michelle Pfeiffer).

And again, she was always a stupid conservative redneck. Stop making it like she was this cool girl who was corrupted. She was never cool.

by Anonymousreply 58April 20, 2014 6:48 AM

R54 - She was supposed to be from Michigan, and yet had an inconsistent southern accent.

by Anonymousreply 59April 20, 2014 10:23 PM

Where is the proof of her antisemitism? Is she racist as well?

by Anonymousreply 60April 20, 2014 10:54 PM

I loved Northern Exposure. I had heard that Rob Morrow was a diva but I never knew that Janine Turner was a nut. What about the rest of them? Is Cynthia Geary sweet in real life? What about Darren E. Burrows?

by Anonymousreply 61April 20, 2014 11:11 PM

R61 - I suspect Cynthia was sweet in real life. She largely disappeared. John Cullum was on the pilot of Mad Men.

by Anonymousreply 62April 20, 2014 11:15 PM

Neil Meron (of Neil Meron and Craig Zadan fame) cast her as Patsy Cline's mother in the TV movie "Patsy and Loretta." Is he a republican as well?

by Anonymousreply 63February 10, 2021 11:09 PM

A conservative Republican who had a child out of wedlock with a married man? What are the details?

I thought that she was one of the most beautiful women on television, but after she showed her ass as a Republican, had to cancel her.

by Anonymousreply 64February 10, 2021 11:23 PM

I thought she was so gorgeous and quirky and haughty arrogant as the upperclass OB-GYN on “Strong Medicine.” I was so disappointed to read how Sarah Palin cray cray she is. She left the show after two seasons - I’ve always wondered what the real story behind her departure was. She was very funny on that show. Whoopi Goldberg produced it and Jenifer Lewis (actress singer activist) was a co star - you have to wonder how they all got along.
