SNL Opening with Mitt and Ann: November 10
Not funny or nearly biting enough toward these two douchebags.
- Jason looked stoned, his eyes were really red and glassy in the opening.
- Sudeikis did a terrible job with Romney. Not a good impression and not funny. You can be one without the other -- see Jay Pharoah's Obama for an accurate and but unfunny impression. Sudeikis doesn't even try.
Where was the "Fox and Friends" sketch? Drunk Uncle was the funniest political thing on the show. Disappointing.
- You expected something clever and funny from this tired, irrelevant show? How disappointing.
- Agreed. SNL hasn't been funny since the days of Will Ferrell.
Lorne Michaels and his Republican slant has basically killed the show.
SNL started out as an irreverent, "nothing is off-limits," cutting-edge political commentary comedy show.
REAL comedians were given so much leeway to offend and delight viewers, and as a result, the show was a ratings hit.
Now, under the totalitarian "my way or the highway" reign of terror by Lorne Michaels, the show is exactly what it should be - an unfunny, corporate hack, ratings loser.
FIRE Lorne Michaels, bring in some fresh, open-minded blood, and you'll see the show become better than it has been in decades.
Lorne Michaels IS the 1%
- It was cutting edge because Lorne was new and not established. Performers were interested in creating comedic art. Now, Lorne has become the Mitt Romney of television and the performers aren't interested in creating good comedic art, just getting their name in public so they can bail ASAP and get a deal to star in a formulaic adolescent comedy.
- Name one current performer who deserves to even be mentioned in the same paragraph as Gilda Radner.
