I think it will. It will go through ups and downs, but it will persist in some form or another.

Why not? I like how the Euro has been collapsing for years and years now, but is still just plugging along.
Of course it will last. The US has been flooding the world with negative press about the Euro to keep attention away from the dire state of the US dollar. Since the Euro is the go to currency. Bush even invaded Iraq just after they announced they were going to start selling Oil in Euros, not US dollar.
This is all about keeping the US dollar as the worlds standard currency by attacking the competition currencies.
