Judge denies Allen West's appeal for injunction

A Palm Beach County judge has denied U.S. Rep. Allen West's bid to have the court intervene in his re-election bid against Democrat Patrick Murphy as the final ballots are counted. The Republican congressman, first elected in 2010, was down by about 2,500 votes to Murphy as of Friday, according to an amended motion for injuctive relief filed by West and his attorneys. An army of lawyers descended on Courtroom 9-C at the Palm Beach County Courthouse Friday, with West's team arguing for "transparency" and "integrity" when it comes to the way temporary elections workers are counting ballots that were unreadable by ballot machines. West's claim asked the court to "secure" all election machines and ballots during the counting and argued that there is a "strong likelihood" that current procedures in place at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office are not "being strictly followed." Murphy's attorneys argued that there is no evidence that anything untoward happening. "Based on everything I've read, I'm going to deny the motion for the injuction," Crow said. This is a breaking story. Check back for further updates.
