Exactly r3, not to mention a much higher percentage of women (44%) voted for Romney than any of those other subcategories. In fact, Obama lost the white women vote. So say whatever you want about gays here as long as you remember it applies to fraus considerably more.

R3, Most of the Jews that voted for MR were Orthodox or Chassidic, NOT Reformed or Conservative. You're essentially saying that 30% of Christians voted for MR, without distinguishing between very observant Evangelicals and say, Unitarians who rarely attend church. There is likewise a HUGE difference in values and priorities in voting.
I'm sure that most of the gay Jews that voted for MR did so because they chose to identify with the 1%, and their economic policies, even if they're no where near that income level. I've personally had many run-ins with non-religious Jewish Republicans who are gay, especially those that write for the popular "liberal" Las Vegas Newspapers, and own and run the top straight nightclubs. They disdain anyone who is not economically at their level, just as the straight whites who voted for MR do.
IMHO they all lack sympathy for those less fortunate, or who've endured tragedy. Also that they're self-image of being part of the truly wealthy is the most vital issue in their life.

R14, I know that there ARE many Unitarians that regularly attend church. So many posters on DL keep trying to lump ALL Jews together, as a voting block. I was just trying to provide a comparative example of Christians, of the most fundie and 3 times a week church-goer, to the far liberal Unitarian who stopped attending church years ago. One would not normally assume that both extremes think alike, and of course there are many who identify as Christian in the middle range.

I am Jewish and was not lumping all Jews into one category. Or lumping any demographic group into one stereotype. My point was that each "broad" demographic group includes various sects, factions and beliefs.

I an independent voter I have voted for the best candidate regardless of party affiliation. I have come to the realization that while the gay community wants me to look to the left, you all will never will look to the right. Democrats said "give us a moderate candidate". Romney was selected and was a very moderate candidate, yet the democrats demonized him as someone so awful you would think he was Hitler. No, he was never going to outlaw abortion or make gays "second class citizens". The sad fact is that you that voted for Obama could give two craps about jobs, our economy, the looming inflation, Social Security insolvency, etc. So I will no longer be donating and supporting the organizations I have given generously to each year. I personally know five. One voted green, the other four for Romney. I had a lengthy conversation with one of them over the summer about his political views and he said that marriage equality and LGBT rights would come in time regardless of who was in the White House and that the economy was more important at this juncture. He also went on about Log Cabins as if that would make me see his point of view more. Mind you both he and his partner are on disability and his partner suffers from MS. They are also currently living in subsidized housing. How in the hell they reconcile that with being Republicans I cannot understand.
