Referendum 74 (same-sex marriage) passes in Washington State!!!!
From Free Republic:
"With 100% of the votes tallied, it looks like same-sex marriage has been passed by Washington State voters. Sign of the times."
"As if there wasn't enough bad news, eh? This election was a debacle."
"Pardon me while I throw-up."
"Get ready for God’s wrath. The people are chosing Satan’s finest, and God’s going to give them what they voted for."
NOM is already making excuses about being in "deep blue states" with these measures.
In the meantime, Maggie Gallagher is raiding all of the area Dunkin' Donuts.

Well yeah, no one was thinking anything like this would be passed by red state Southern bigots. It can only happen in rational and progressive states.
I'm remembering it was a relatively short time ago that Dianne Feinstein blaming us for losing the 2004 election.
What a change in the US.
And how quickly it can change again.
I forgot about that one. That really was a bad election year.

You just know girlfriend is stress eating right now!
This really is historic. I can't believe that gay marriage won in all three votes. We have lost all 32(!!!) votes before tonight. Wow. Incredible night.
I'm so proud of Maryland! Just ecstatic!
Congratulations to you all in Maryland, Maine & Washington states!
The info I've found on Minn. is all wonky. Any updates?
It's looking pretty good in WA but there are a lot of ballots out (they only have to be postmarked by Election Day). We should have a better idea tomorrow afternoon when the next batch of ballots from King County are processed.
Wondering the same, r13...
Can't find info on Minn.
In related news: One of the Iowa state supreme court judges who supported ssm and faced a retention vote WON and will stay in place. Woot! The Minn vote would make it complete... FIVE historic wins on the same night! Fingers crossed.
Great news! Congrats!!
Local news just broadcast with 81% of ballots counted, Ref 74 is winning 52 to 48 percent.
An openly gay person was also elected to the U.S. Senate. That has never happened before.
America and Wisconsin have a big 'ol lesbian Senator.
At a more local level, WV gets its first openly gay elected state official - Stephen Skinner for the WV House of Delegates.
The DL unable to google Minnesota Election Results? FFS.
Minnesota beat back the SSM ban. And voter id. And gave the state legislature back to the Dems.
Bachmann sadly likely to remain the statewide embarrassment of the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
This is truly a historic night for human rights. The GOP is sputtering to its death.
It all makes sense now: Gay marriage legalized on the same day as marijuana makes perfect biblical sense.
Leviticus 20:13 - "A man who lays with another man should be stoned."
Our interpretation has just been wrong for all these years.
Kisses, R22. Amen and Halleluia.
Washington state needs to reform its elections. There is no sane reason why so many votes in that state are still uncounted. They should change the law to say that all mail-in ballots must be received by the day before the election.
it ended up passing 54-46 percent, which makes it a strong victory.
... and i was there to witness the gays getting married on the first day it was allowed.
saw dan savage emerge after tying the knot too.
the whole experience was very cool and i was *almost* brought to tears
Washington truly is a state of two different states. The Seattle metro area solidly voted for Ref 74, almost the entire rest of the state voted strongly against it.
