Have you ever gotten rejected for a job due to being too costly?
I interviewed for a job that I am definitely qualified for. It was between me and another candidate. The guy they hired is ten years younger, without a graduate degree (I have one). A friend who works at the company said they likely did this to save money -- I'd command more due to my degree.
Should I lie about my education on my resume, at this point?
Yes - database position. I have oodles of database experience and the rate I wanted was too high for them.
It used to be a problem for teachers but I don't know if it still is. They wouldn't get their masters until after they were tenured otherwise they wouldn't get hired.
Yes, and everytime they ask me why I'm so costly I answer " Because I'm worth it!"
